🟣 Meet one of my absolute favourite clients — 95 years young and stomping out BlazePods like a pro!

Reaction time, coordination and processing speed matter just as much as strength as we age — they're what keep us quick on our feet and steady on the ground. Watching him react and stomp the light the second it comes on is honestly the best part of my week. 💪

Proof that it's never too late to challenge your brain and body together — age is just a number when you keep moving!

🦵 Exercise Spotlight: Forward Step Ups 🦵

Looking for a simple but powerful exercise to build leg strength and improve your balance?

Try forward step ups!

Why they work:
✅ Strengthens quads, glutes, and calves
✅ Improves single-leg balance and stability
✅ Builds confidence for everyday movements
✅ Can be done at home with just a step, box, or sturdy chair

Tip: Start with a lower step height and hold onto a rail or wall if needed for balance. As you get stronger, increase the height or add light weights.

This is a great one for anyone working on fall prevention, general leg strength, or getting back to confident movement

🌞 Morning Mobility Moment

Start your day with a little love for your body! Three simple moves to wake up stiff joints and get you moving well:

🔄 Shoulder Rolls – Loosen up those shoulders and release tension from sleep (or from hunching over your phone already this morning!)

🦶 Heel & Toe Raises – Wake up your calves and ankles, and give your balance a little boost

🧘 Seated Active Hamstring Stretch – Reach gently toward your toes... and if you can't get there, that's perfectly fine! Go as far as feels comfortable for YOU. Every body is different, and progress isn't about touching your toes — it's about showing up.

Just a few minutes each morning can make a real difference in how your body feels for the rest of the day. 💪

Give it a go and let me know how you feel! 👇

🏋️‍♀️ Starting exercise? A little muscle soreness is normal — but here's what to watch for.

If you're new to exercise (or getting back into it), some muscle soreness in the day or two after a session is completely normal. It's called DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), and it simply means your muscles are adapting to a new type of load.

But here's the key thing to know: soreness should ease within 24–48 hours.

If it's still lingering 3, 4, or more days later, that's your body telling you something — you've likely started at a load that's too high for where you're at right now. It's not a sign you need to "push through" — it's a sign to scale back and build more gradually.

✅ Some soreness = your body adapting
🚫 Soreness lasting several days = program needs adjusting

Starting an exercise routine should challenge you, not wreck you. If you're unsure whether your program is dialled in correctly, that's exactly what an Accredited Exercise Physiologist is for — we design programs that build strength and fitness safely, at the right pace for your body.

Questions about getting started safely? Drop them below or send me a message. 💬

🎉 We're celebrating 2 years of Empowered by Robyn! 🎉

Two years ago, Empowered by Robyn opened its doors on the Tweed Coast — and what an incredible journey it's been since!

To every client who has trusted me with their health and movement journey, and especially to those of you who keep coming back session after session, year after year — thank you. Your loyalty and trust mean the world to me. Watching you get stronger, move better, and reach goals you didn't think were possible is exactly why I do what I do.

Here's to many more years of movement, progress, and empowerment together. 💪

Thank you for being part of the Empowered by Robyn family.

Knees, back and arms not what they used to be?
Start here. 🪑

You don't need to get on the floor to build the strength that keeps you off it for the wrong reasons.

Elevated sit-to-stands and presses on a table are the perfect starting point — no big loads through sore joints, just steady, controlled strength building at a height that works for you.

The worst thing you can do isn't "starting too easy" — it's doing nothing.

Strength is built in stages 💪

Give these a go, and progress the height down as you get stronger and more confident.

🧎‍♀️ Can you get up off the floor... without using your hands?

It sounds simple, but the ability to get on and off the ground is one of the biggest predictors of healthy ageing. Floor mobility trains strength, balance, coordination and confidence — all things we need to stay independent as we get older.

The good news? It's a skill, and skills can be trained at any age. 💪

Today's topic: Lung Health — Living with COPD, Emphysema or Asthma 🎈

If you're managing COPD, emphysema or asthma, regular gentle aerobic activity can help build lung efficiency over time — but pacing is everything.

Start low, build slowly, and always keep your reliever/rescue medication on hand. Work at a pace where you can still speak in short sentences, and stop if you feel unusually short of breath, dizzy, or your breathing doesn't settle with rest.

If you haven't exercised in a while, it's worth checking in with your GP or an exercise physiologist first to find the right starting point for you.
