With weather this good, there’s no better excuse to grab a few friends and enjoy a round!
A quick heads-up: we’re one week on from our spring renovations, so the greens are still a little sandy. As for the fairways, you might want to take a preferred lie — see image 3 👇 — but only maybe! 😁
Want the inside scoop? Course Superintendent Scott Barnett talks us through the renovation works and how the recovery is tracking 👇

🏌️♂️ 84 YEARS YOUNG, A HOLE-IN-ONE & AN 81! ⛳
A very special congratulations to David Rutherford, who recently celebrated his 84th birthday — and then celebrated in style at Byron Bay Golf Club!
Playing the Par 3 5th, Dave pulled out the 7-iron, struck it beautifully and watched it disappear straight into the cup - A Slam Dunk! 🎯 Hole-in-one.
But apparently that wasn't enough for Dave as he went on to shoot an incredible 81, beating his age by three shots!
An ace, an 81 and plenty of bragging rights. Not a bad day's work for an 84-year-old! 👏
Dave is one of our great club characters and a wonderful example of what makes golf — and Byron Bay Golf Club — so special.
Well played, Dave! 🍻⛳

We’re over the hump of our Spring Course Aeration Program! ⛳🙌
A huge shout-out to Scott, Gus and our incredible Course Maintenance Team, who have been working tirelessly this week to give the course the spring renovation treatment it deserves.
It’s been a massive week of work across the course, including:
🌱 Greens – verticutting, coring, amendments, topdressing, fertilising and plenty of TLC.
⛳ Fairways – scarifying, mowing, aerating, gypsum application and irrigation.
🏌️ Aprons & Approaches – verticutting, aeration, mowing and topdressing.
🏌️♂️ Tees – verticutting, aeration, mowing, topdressing and fertilising.
🌳 Tree Management – we’ve also taken the opportunity to carry out some tree management along our 6th hole. As you’ll see in some of the attached images, there was substantial rot and trunk degradation in a number of trees, presenting a significant risk. Our arborist strongly advised that they be removed.
And that’s just the short version! 😅
The 10mm of overnight rain gave the team a minor hiccup (as did a couple of machinery failures), but it certainly hasn’t stopped them. They’ve continued pushing ahead and have done an outstanding job getting us through the biggest part of the program.
👏 This is the work that often goes unnoticed by golfers, but it’s absolutely critical to the long-term health, playability and resilience of our course.
We’re pleased to confirm that the course will reopen for play this Friday from 12:30pm. 🎉
The course will take around four weeks to fully recover, but the work being done now will set us up for some fantastic results as we head into spring and beyond.
So, if you see Scott, Gus or any of the team around the course, give them a wave and a big thank you. They’ve put in some serious hours this week, and the results will be well worth it. 👏👏
And don’t forget, we’re still open for lunch & dinner today through Saturday. With arguably one of the best outlooks in town, we’re definitely worth a visit for a bite to eat and a refreshing beverage! 🍽️🍻
Spring is here, and the course is on the way up! 🌱☀️⛳️

🌤️ The sun is shining, the course is drying out and it’s great to see plenty of golfers back out enjoying Byron Bay Golf Club!
After a run of challenging weather across the region, this morning may have started a little dull, but thankfully the sun has broken through just in time for a great field taking to the course for the Strata Republic August Monthly Medal. 🏌️♂️🏌️♀️
A huge thank you to Strata Republic for their continued support of Byron Bay Golf Club and our Monthly Medals throughout the 2026 season. We’re incredibly grateful to have local businesses and partners who support the Club and our members.
If you’re looking for a trusted strata management team, we’d encourage you to have a chat with the team at Strata Republic and see how they can help.
After the recent run of rain, it’s also fantastic to see the course drying out and our members flocking back to the fairways and clubhouse. And speaking of flocks... 🦢
We’ve welcomed a couple of new arrivals to the lake on the 2nd hole, with two adorable cygnets now swimming alongside Mum and Dad, who certainly look pretty proud of their little family! ❤️
Whether you’re joining us for a 9 or 18-hole round, catching up with friends over lunch, or simply sitting on the deck enjoying a refreshing beverage and taking in the views, Byron Bay Golf Club is a great place to spend some time when visiting Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers.
With our page back up and running, we’re looking forward to sharing more of what’s happening around the Club with you. 👋
So much more than golf & Open for ALL to enjoy.
We’ll see you at the Club!
