“Mum, Dad… I want to quit.”

It’s a conversation most parents will have at some point.

As a Chief Instructor, my advice is simple: don’t immediately say yes, and don’t immediately say no. Ask why.

Sometimes moving on is the right decision. But sometimes “I want to quit” really means this has become difficult, I’m frustrated, or I’m not improving as quickly as I hoped.

Those moments can be valuable opportunities for children to learn perseverance, commitment and how to work through challenges rather than simply walk away from them.
