A lengthy post this one - but it has a message.

This week's game had a very important message to deliver - Mental Health, with the inaugral Mental Health game for AFL Masters in the Southwest.

A great night for footy with the rain holding off. The game against the sharks is always a tough contest - this game was no different. An open game with plenty of goals and some great skills on show - another great masters game.

Scooter - solid all night
Buzzy Jnr Jnr - some confusion after 3 * buzzy's came forward .... old man buzzy (solid support of the bar) and buzzy jnr (kicked a goal), however it was clarified the best player was actually buzzy of the Jaydon variety

The serious part:
Pre-game we had a Mental Health session with Greg Hire courtesy of A Stitch in Time. A great check in and tips about managing Mental Health - a message which hit home to all of us.

Mental health is something you cant see, but at some stage will impact us or someone we know. We can all lookout for each other, check in and just ask if your mate is ok - you never know the difference it might make.

Masters footy is a great way for us all to look out for each other and create a support network. That couple of hours or so each week is a great way to relax, chat to your mates and look after yourself.

To the blokes out there - look after yourself, talk to your mates and check in on each other.

Tonight Sharks players and Perkins crew attended a BBQ with guest speaker Brad Robbins, former Perth wildcats captain to share his personal journey both on and off the court, discussing how he recognised challenges with mental health before they become to overwhelming. Thanks Perkins, South32 and Stitch in time.
