Incorrect preparation for bloods can have you chasing solutions for problems that don’t even exist.
Training, fasting, alcohol, the flu, sleep, supplements and even the time of day can shift certain markers.
Keep your preparation consistent each time you test so you’re comparing apples with apples!

Getting hit in the nuts might be something you laughed off years ago.
But significant testicular trauma, or a history of testicular torsion, can sometimes have longer-term consequences.
Your te**es aren’t just there for fertility. They’re responsible for s***m production and produce the majority of your testosterone.
Damage to testicular tissue or loss of blood supply during torsion can potentially affect:
- S***m count and quality
- Fertility
- Testosterone production
- Testicular size and function
This doesn’t mean every knock to the nuts causes hormone or fertility issues. Most minor injuries won’t.
But if you’ve had serious testicular trauma or torsion in the past and you’re now dealing with fertility issues or symptoms of low testosterone, it’s worth including that history in the assessment rather than ignoring it.

I’ve now had plenty of clients come to me after doing all the testing for their IBS symptoms.
Colonoscopy - clear.
Endoscopy - clear.
Yet they’re still dealing with bloating, reflux, burping, gas, constipation, diarrhoea, food reactions and abdominal discomfort.
A clear scope is great news, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t gut issues present.
These tests can rule out a lot of serious problems, but they don’t tell you everything about bacterial overgrowth, digestion, gut bacteria or motility.
If your tests are “normal” but your gut still feels anything but normal, there may be more to look at.

Ever feel like absolute crap after sitting under LED lights all day?
Some LED lighting produces rapid flicker. Even when you can’t consciously see it, flicker can contribute to eye strain, headaches and fatigue in people who are sensitive to it.
Your light environment matters.
Try incandescent lighting, properly tested flicker-free full-spectrum lighting, and get outside when you can.
Take phone calls outdoors. Work in natural light. Give your eyes and brain a break from artificial lighting all day.
Sometimes feeling better at work starts with changing what’s above your head.

If heart disease or stroke runs in your family, get your homocysteine checked.
Elevated homocysteine is associated with increased cardiovascular and stroke risk, yet it’s often missing from routine blood work.
It can also flag issues with B12, folate, B6, kidney function and other factors.
Family history isn’t your fate, but it’s a reason to test more thoroughly.
Especially in men, don’t wait until there’s a problem to start paying attention.
If your doctor won’t test it, this is something I can help with and build you a personalised protocol to address it 👊

Bloodwork is only one part of the story.
That’s why I run a comprehensive health assessment alongside a comprehensive bloodwork panel with my clients.
Sometimes the bloods look good, but the client still feels like s**t.
Other times, their symptoms point us towards something that isn’t obvious from the bloodwork alone.
The goal isn’t just to optimise numbers on a page.
It’s to improve how the client actually feels - their energy, digestion, sleep, mood, libido, recovery and overall function.
Symptoms matter. Blood markers matter.
You need to look at both.

Your testosterone might not be low, it might be locked up.
SHBG binds to testosterone in your blood. When SHBG gets too high, more testosterone can be bound, leaving less free testosterone available for your body to use.
So your total testosterone can look perfectly “normal” while you’re still dealing with low libido, poor energy, flat mood and poor recovery.
This is why I never look at total testosterone alone.
SHBG matters.
