Sunshine Coast Wanderers FC is inviting Expressions of Interest from players seeking to be considered for our 2027 programs:

FQ Academy Program
Boys and girls — Under 9 to Under 18

Development Program
Boys and girls — Under 9 to Under 13

As part of our ongoing Talent Identification Program, all submissions will be reviewed to assess each player’s current level, potential and most appropriate development pathway.

Selected players may be invited to attend a screening session, targeted trial or Academy training environment. Players may also be monitored through club or school football and other development opportunities.

Submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee an invitation or position. Families are encouraged to provide as much relevant information as possible, including playing history, achievements, references and video footage.

Following the assessment, we will contact families regarding the outcome, next steps or any further information required.

⚽ A NEW YEAR-ROUND TALENT IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM

Sunshine Coast Wanderers is excited to introduce a year-round Talent Identification Program, creating a clear and responsible pathway for talented young footballers across the region.

The program will allow our academy to identify, monitor and support emerging players while building strong relationships with players, families, community clubs, schools and coaches.

We recognise the important role our local football community plays in developing young players, and our goal is to work collaboratively to create opportunities for talented players to progress into the FQ Academy system.

Our Term 4 Technical Skills Clinic will form part of this broader program, providing another opportunity for players to showcase their skills and be identified within the Wanderers development pathway.

Calling all coaches!

Sunshine Coast Wanderers is looking for ambitious, highly qualified coaches to help shape the next phase of our player development pathway.

We’re particularly keen to hear from coaches who hold, or are currently working towards, an A or B coaching licence and want to be part of a progressive environment focused on developing the next generation of footballers.

As we continue building a genuine professional football pathway on the Sunshine Coast, this is an opportunity to grow with the club and help shape its future.

We also strongly encourage female coaches aspiring to work within the advanced player pathway to express their interest.

Building for 2027.
Sunshine Coast Wanderers are pleased to announce our new-look Academy Technical Team — the group who'll shape how our players develop over the seasons ahead.
Greg Brown remains as Technical Director. Rui Spinola moves into the Academy Director role. And we're delighted to welcome Michael Angus to the club as Lead Coach of the Junior Foundation Phase.
Michael arrives with a strong playing career behind him, having captained Brisbane Strikers in the NPL. He's since become one of the Sunshine Coast's most respected development coaches, working alongside Rui in junior programs across the region.
His focus is on individual skill acquisition and the technical foundations of the game — first touch, 1v1 ability and ball mastery. Michael will also lead our new Technical Skills Clinic, launching in Term 4, giving players individually focused, high-repetition technical development.
He joins a technical department with serious depth. Greg is a former Matildas head coach and dual international, while Rui is highly regarded across the region for his long-standing work in junior player development.
Together they'll continue strengthening our player-development pathway, with a clear progression from MiniRoos through to FQPL and NPL football.
This technical team will take us into 2027 and beyond — through to our planned move into the state-of-the-art Honey Farm facility in 2028. An exciting new chapter for the Wanderers and for football development across our region.
