The U12 Girls Green Team travelled to Tamworth to compete in the Kim Small Shield Hockey Carnival from 3th – 6th July 2026.
The team of 13 girls represented Newcastle with enthusiasm, determination, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the four-day carnival playing eight field hockey games and two indoor hockey games. Each match provided valuable opportunities for the players to develop their skills, build confidence, and strengthen their teamwork.
Throughout the carnival, the girls displayed resilience, encouraged one another, and consistently demonstrated a positive attitude, regardless of the results.
The team finished the carnival in 15th position, an achievement that reflected the players' commitment, effort, and continual improvement across the tournament.
Away from the field, team bonding played an important role in creating a positive and supportive environment with team dinner and tenpin bowling. These activities strengthened friendships and contributed to the excellent team culture throughout the carnival.
We sincerely thank the team coach and manager for their dedication, guidance, and encouragement throughout the carnival.

U12 Newcastle 1s competed in Division A of the Kim Small Shield, finishing 2nd to a very strong & undefeated SEHA. Well done- we are so proud of you!

U12 Newcastle White also competed in division 2 of the Kim Small Shield in Tamworth.
It was the first representative opportunity for most of these girls who united from 4 junior clubs.
Their growth and development was a pleasure to witness, as they showed an unwavering positive attitude, comradery, and team spirit through warm up dance offs, sing alongside, beading and cheers between hockey games.
We won, drew and lost games but did not measure success through wins on the board. Rather, through a the smiles on their faces, the bonds they developed and their commitment to play rep hockey again in 2027.
We congratulate team award recipients Ellie, for team spirit; Alice and Scarlett for consistent performance and Jasmine on receiving the Coach/manager's award although every member of the team contributed immensely to the overall achievement of this group.
Lastly, special thanks to the team officials, Sally and Sam.

The U12 Newcastle Twos capped off an outstanding campaign in the Kim Small Shield division B tournament, finishing undefeated and conceding just a single goal throughout. It has to be a defensive record to achieve such results while facing top-tier opposition.
The girls carried composure and discipline through every match, showing they could match it with the best teams in the division. Their preparation, teamwork, grit and composure was evident throughout finals.
Beyond the results, every player represented Newcastle with genuine pride and clearly had a great time doing it.
We are very proud of these girls, and thank their team officials, Dan C and Toni.

Thank you to Newcastle International Hockey Centre for hosting a fantastic weekend for the HNSW 16s State Championships.
Newcastle 1s played in division 1- finishing 1st in their pool and 2nd overall after a tight final loss to NSB. A fantastic effort from a team that were only back in Division 1 this year after promotion last year.
Newcastle 2s faced a tough ask, playing all their games against Association Number 1 teams. They finished on a high after drawing with Manning Valley.
Well done to Chrissy Fernance, named Player of the Tournament.
A great effort from NDWHA’s own Christine Bradley as Umpires Manager and our juniors who umpired in the tournament- Avery, Angie, Charlie M, Grace W, Willow and Jonti.
Shout out to some of of younger juniors too- helping out Hunter and Southern Highlands associations.
More pics to come!

Congratulations to our 16s 1s team who finished as runners up at today's Moorebank Carnival. A fabulous effort for a team who played games all day, without a single sub for the final losing 3-0 to NSB in the final having beat them earlier in the day. The team are ready for the state championships to be held at home in Newcastle next weekend!
