Ever wondered what really goes on behind the scenes at a major international equestrian event?

Students are invited to go behind the scenes at Brisbane CDI for a special school tour of the Queensland State Equestrian Centre (QSEC) - with opportunities to meet some of the people, athletes and horses who make the event happen!

This isn't your average school excursion. Students will get a unique glimpse into the world of international dressage and discover just how many different people and roles come together to deliver an event of this level.

Equestrian Queensland is pleased to offer a two-day EA Coach Development Workshop on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 October 2026 at Tamborine Equestrian Group, 55 Lucas Road, Tamborine.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants commencing their pathway with EA Introductory Horse Management and EA Riding workbooks or working their way through EA Introductory or EA Level 1 Coaching.

Supporting participants across the two days will be three highly experienced EA Coach Educators:

Emma Morel – EA Level 2 General
Gary Lung – EA Level 3 Dressage Specialist
David Finch – EA Level 3 Jumping Specialist

The two-day format provides participants with access to experienced Coach Educators across EA Introductory Horse Management, EA Introductory Riding and EA Introductory & Level 1 Coaching, while creating a supportive environment to complete assessment requirements and continue developing practical coaching knowledge and skills.

Whether you are beginning your EA coaching journey or progressing through your current accreditation requirements, this is a valuable opportunity to work directly with experienced Coach Educators and take the next step in your development.

Applicants are eligible from the beginning of the year in which they turn 15 through to the end of the year in which they turn 25.

Applicants should submit:

⭐ An application letter outlining why they would be a worthy recipient, including current training level and short, medium and long-term goals.

⭐ A letter from a parent/guardian supporting the application and confirming their commitment to the time and care required.

⭐ A letter from their current coach supporting the application and outlining their involvement in preparing the young horse.

⭐ Their three best dressage scores from the past 12 months, including competition level. A video of a test is welcome but not essential.

📅 APPLICATIONS CLOSE: 25 AUGUST 2026

Congratulations Emma! Not only flying the flag for Australia but for Queensland too 👏👏👏

🇦🇺🌏 Flying the flag for Australia on the world stage!

A huge congratulations to Queensland’s Emma Flegman, who has been appointed to the Ground Jury for the FEI Eventing European Championship for Young Riders & Juniors, taking place at Segersjö, Sweden, from 26–30 August 2026.

Emma will serve on the Ground Jury for the Junior competition, with responsibilities spanning all three phases — dressage, cross-country and showjumping — playing a key role in one of the sport’s premier youth events.

It’s a wonderful recognition of Emma’s dedication, expertise and journey through eventing officiating. Having competed to 4* level in eventing and Grand Prix in dressage, Emma began judging in 2007 before progressing through the national levels and earning her FEI Level 3 Eventing qualification in 2025.

Now, she takes her place alongside some of the sport’s most experienced international officials.

As Emma says, “I am excited to witness the future of eventing, being part of their journey as I progress in mine.”

We couldn’t be prouder to see another Australian official representing our sport at the highest level. 🇦🇺💚💛

HAPPY HORSE'S BIRTHDAY!

In the Southern Hemisphere we celebrate all Horse's Birthdays on the 1st of August. 🎉

Whilst they may not actually be born on this date, their birthday is standardised for comparison.

The reason for this date is that the weather at the start of September is beginning to warm up, encouraging mares to come into season. As most foals are born eleven months later, this means that many foals are born at the start of August. This differs in the Northern Hemisphere where warmer weather begins around December, which is why horses birthdays are celebrated on 1 January.
