As NAIDOC Week begins, we're reflecting on a special moment from the Indigenous Nationals Opening Ceremony.

Celebrating 30 years of Indigenous Nationals, Elders from The Wollotuka Institute welcomed each university with a cultural gift exchange, acknowledging the connections between Country, community and culture that continue to guide this event.

The theme, '50 Years of Deadly', celebrates the strength of those who came before us, the communities leading today, and the generations who will carry culture into the future - a sentiment reflected in the symbolic gesture of Elders passing gifts to the emerging generations, entrusting them to carry forward the legacy of Indigenous Nationals.

We honour what came before by continuing the work.
