It is easy to stand by our values when everything is going well.

The real test comes when results are under pressure, and the next decision feels difficult. In those moments, even good leaders can lose sight of what matters.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻.

Our values are not only seen in the big decisions. They show up in everyday moments, through the way we communicate, respond to challenges, and treat the people around us.

Your team may not remember every word you say, but they will remember how your leadership made them feel. When pressure rises, which value do you want your team to see in you?

When you listen more than you speak, trust grows.

👉 When was the last time you asked your team what they really needed and just listened?

Diverse teams bring different perspectives, experiences, and ways of thinking. That can lead to stronger ideas and better decisions, but diversity alone does not guarantee great teamwork.

Emotional intelligence is what helps people navigate those differences. Without self-awareness, emotions can quickly become assumptions, reactions, or misunderstandings. The strongest teams approach difficult conversations with curiosity, context, and respect so they can learn from one another rather than talk past each other.

We’re quick to say, “𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁.”

But what if resilience isn’t actually the problem? Sometimes people do need support to build their ability to handle challenges. But other times, they’re exhausted from carrying too much for too long. Maybe the workload is unreasonable. Maybe they need recovery, clearer expectations, better support, or simply to feel heard.

As leaders, it’s worth asking ourselves:

𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚?

I explored this more deeply in this week’s newsletter, including five questions leaders can ask before labelling something a “resilience issue.”

Belonging begins when we learn, grow, and move forward together. If you’re serious about creating true belonging within your team, let’s talk.

The older I get, the less I think leadership is about having the perfect plan. I've worked with leaders who had brilliant strategies that never gained momentum.

And I've worked with leaders who inspired people to achieve extraordinary things because their teams trusted them. That has reminded me that people don't just respond to a vision.

They respond to the person inviting them into it.
Trust changes everything.

✨ What has someone done that made you trust them as a leader?

𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

Sometimes people stay silent because they have learned that agreeing feels safer than asking questions or offering a different perspective. The behaviours we reward shape the conversations our teams are willing to have. When curiosity, honesty, and respectful challenge are welcomed, people are more likely to speak with clarity instead of simply complying.

As leaders, how we respond when our own ideas are questioned matters. Listening without becoming defensive shows people that disagreement is not a threat. It is part of finding a better way forward.

What could you do in your next meeting to make respectful challenge feel safe?

We want life to follow a neat, predictable path, but in truth, it’s messy, filled with setbacks, pivots, and unexpected storms. The key is not perfection, but the ability to pick ourselves up when things go wrong- not if.

💡 Thought: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵?

Leadership isn’t about having the loudest voice.

It’s about making room for the quiet ones, the thinkers, the feelers, and the diverse minds that see the world in different ways. That’s where the magic happens.

🎙️ The quiet voices often hold the greatest insight.

This is the Influence Pillar in INFINITE Leadership true influence isn’t about volume, it’s about creating space where every voice is valued and heard.

Tag a leader who makes space for every voice.

Have you ever walked away from a conversation thinking, "𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙄'𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮?"

As leaders, our first instinct is often to give advice, solve the problem, or tell people what they should do. But what if the most powerful thing you could do wasn't to answer?

What if it was asking a better question?

Sometimes one simple question can help someone pause, think differently, and find a better way forward. Leadership isn't always about having the right answers. Often, it's about asking the questions that help others think, choose, and grow.
