We are so excited to share with you that Hannah is joining our team from Monday 30th January, 2023!

Hannah is a Physiotherapist with a strong interest in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy. Prior to graduating from the Australian Catholic University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Hannah graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Exercise and Nutrition Science. This enables Hannah to have a very well rounded and holist approach to her patient treatment. A keen soccer and cricket player, Hannah's passion for Physiotherapy stems from her personal experiences rehabilitating several sporting injuries, so you will be in extremely capable hands!

Hannah has an inspiring and extensive history working in the community as a sports trainer with the AFL Womenโ€™s teams, as a personal support worker for people with spinal cord injuries, and as a trainee in community recreation.

Hannah will be working Monday - Friday (and alternating Saturdays) and is excited to build on the foundations learned during her previous experience to solidify her skills as a Physiotherapist at Manly Physiotherapy & Pilates, and is looking forward to meeting all of our wonderful patients, and the community of Manly!

With running season well and truly underway and the recent weather better than ever, we have been seeing our fair share of Achilles issues over the past few months.

Known as Achilles tendinopathy in adults, and presenting as Sever's in adolescents, this issue stems from a variety of factors which result in an overloading of the tendon structure, leading to pain, stiffness and occasionally swelling in the area.

Tweaking running programs, gait mechanics, foot posture, adding stretches all can help, but little do people know that strengthening and loading the tendon in a controlled manner is most crucial in managing the symptoms.

If left unchecked, symptoms usually become worse if exercise persists, or return exactly where you left it (not any better ๐Ÿ˜ญ) after returning to sport from a period of rest.
