Professor Graham Martin OAM – Celebration of Life and Invitation to Attend
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Professor Graham Edward Douglas Martin OAM, who died peacefully on 6 June 2026, aged 82 years.
Graham was a devoted husband to Janet, a loving father, grandfather, colleague, mentor, and friend. He leaves an extraordinary legacy through his tireless dedication to improving mental health and preventing su***de in Australia.
For decades, Graham was a pioneering force in su***de prevention, helping shape national awareness, policy, research, and practice. His contributions through Su***de Prevention Australia, MATES in Construction, academic leadership, advocacy, research, and countless other initiatives have touched and saved many lives. Beyond his professional achievements, Graham was known for his compassion, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering commitment to supporting others.
The Martin family warmly invites all friends, colleagues, former students, professional associates, and members of the wider community whose lives were touched by Graham to attend his funeral service and pay their respects.

Tributes and Memories
Graham's impact reached far beyond his family and immediate circle. The family would be grateful to hear from those who worked alongside him, were mentored by him, collaborated with him, or were influenced by his work.
We invite colleagues, friends, and associates to share tributes, reflections, stories, photographs, and memories celebrating Graham's life and his remarkable contributions to su***de prevention, mental health, community wellbeing, Su***de Prevention Australia, MATES in Construction The University of Queensland, Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Lifeline, academia, and the many other organisations and initiatives he supported throughout his career.
These tributes will help honour the breadth of Graham's legacy and the profound influence he had on so many people across Australia and beyond.
Please feel free to share this invitation with anyone who knew Graham or worked with him during his distinguished career.
Additionally, we would be delighted if you feel that you could write a haiku for Dad. These could be read at the service and would be shared at Moda during the afternoon. Those of you who know him well, would be aware of his prolific creativity in this art form.
Graham touched many lives, and we welcome all who wish to join us in celebrating a life of service, compassion, leadership, and lasting impact.
Please share as you see fit
