The Clint Eastwood & LOS have evolved considerably since we set out at Oxley Creek so long ago. Plenty of new faces each year, and plenty of familiar faces that turn up over and over. Just a couple of weeks out from the 2026 edition and who knows what it will throw up or who will throw it!

These are the guys that take care of the common - weeding, planting, repairing, cleaning up after everyone else. They're basically like the Wombles!

Regardless, the place wouldn't be the same without these people, and their dedication is behind us being able to rock up there every August and October to do our thing.

Oxley Creek Catchment Association

Today I went to a Bushcare and Beer afternoon organised by the Oxley Creek Catchment Association (OCCA) at the Oxley Creek Common. I learned what climbing asparagus vine looks like and how to remove the invasive grasses that lie along the track at what many of you know at The Clint Eastwood. I strongly encourage any locals to support OCCA in the work they do not just at Sherwood, but also at Archerfield. There are a group of four Japanese athletes on their way to Oxley for next month's Clint Eastwood. Two have PBs in the mid seventies, and one has just clicked off 800km at the Six Days Under the Dome event - should be interesting!

With over 200 on the start list along with three-time lady's Narcisa Finnila winner and two-time men's winner Kevin Muller, it's sure to be a great watch - just five weeks away.

Those that participated, either racing, crewing, pacing or just taking a peek, will have seen some familiar faces through the course of the weekend. The same faces we are fortunate enough to have the support of for all of our events.

Nearly all are previous participants, not just at the BVRT100s but at many of our other events, and we also had a couple of new faces this year in Chris van Leer (at Linville) and Stuart Corbett (Coominya). Of course, we had many of the stalwards out there with The Forceys (Lauren - a past 100 mile winner - and Karl at Toogoolawah), the MacNeils (Nichola and Neil at Esk), Jason West (another past 100 mile winner at Coominya), Melanie McClave, Nicole Jukes and Matt Britton at Fernvale.

Lee Pratt once again spent the whole weekend, from Thursday afternoon to the moment we left the IGS on Sunday afternoon, looking after the 200 milers with myself, before being wherever he was needed from Saturday onward.

Then of course, there's my amazing, better half. Susannah does all the crap things I don't want to do, and the many more things that I forget. She has the patience of a saint ... though I'm not sure which one! Susannah also brings a wealth of experience to the event and whatever you might be going through on course, she's been there and done it, probably at least twice, and can relate to it all.

We can't do anything without these guys, and they are as invested in the event as we are. All a little mad of course, but in the best way!

Special mention to old mate, Kevin Heaton. We picked him up from BNE on Friday morning and he spent more time loading trailers and packing up than he did getting yet another miler under his belt. And he looks a little like Walter White's 'Heisenberg' if you put your mind to it and squint a little!

Along with those of the participants, many thanks to you all, it was a huge weekend.

In one form or another, WH@N has been heading off from Wild Horse Mountain since 2003 - the course has varied, and the faces change over time (some just have a few more wrinkles!), but it's still run around the plantation with nothing but you and some like-minded folk running around in the dark ... and the brumbies!
