🔥 THE OLD FIRM IS BACK… BUT WHO MAKES YOUR 17? 🔥

The Broncos are starting to get some troops back.

According to Joel Gould on X from today’s training at Red Hill:

✅ Ezra Mam trained in the halves (no rehab bib)
✅ Adam Reynolds was back steering the side around
✅ The Origin stars have returned
✅ Gehamat Shibasaki trained at left centre
✅ Billy Walters was watching on after playing Hostplus Cup yesterday
✅ Cory Paix spent time at dummy-half
⚠️ Jesse Arthars remained in a red non-contact bib with the reserves.

Now it’s over to the Thoroughbreds… 👇

📝 What’s your Broncos 17?

❓ Does Ezra Mam come straight back into the side?
❓ Does Adam Reynolds walk straight back into the No.7 jersey?
❓ Is Billy Walters, Cory Paix or Blake Mozer your ho**er?
❓ And if Jesse Arthars isn’t fit, who gets the nod on the wing?
❓ Is Karapani in the mix?

Drop your full team list in the comments and let’s see who gets closest to Madge’s selections.

The Thoroughbreds have had their say, and we’re down to our final two for Round 2 NRLW Player of the Game! 🐴🔥

🐴 Tamika Upton — a historic afternoon, scoring a hat-trick to become the first player in NRLW history to reach 50 career tries.

💪 Lillian Yarrow — the new recruit laid the perfect platform through the middle, giving the Broncos the momentum they needed. Alongside fellow prop Brianna Clark, she was outstanding in attack and backed it up with a huge defensive effort.

Two deserving performances. One vote.

👇 Who gets your Round 2 Player of the Game?

UPTON or YARROW?

🏉 FIFTY NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD. 👑

History made.

Our captain Tamika Upton has become the first player in NRLW history to score 50 career tries, bringing up the milestone in the best possible way… with a hat trick in the Broncos’ win over the Sharks.

To make the achievement even more remarkable:
🔥 50 tries
🎯 50 try assists
🏃‍♀️ Just 52 NRLW games

That’s almost one try and one try assist every game she’s played. An incredible record from one of the greatest players the women’s game has ever seen.

Congratulations, Skip. Here’s to the next 50. ❤️💛

🚨 KARAPANI GETS ONE LAST CHANCE 🚨

The Broncos have confirmed they will not sack Josiah Karapani, but it’s clear the young winger is now on his final warning.

After already being let go by the Rabbitohs following previous disciplinary issues, this latest incident has put his future under the spotlight once again.

It is also understood the Broncos had planned for Karapani to line up in the Hostplus Cup this weekend, however the QRL intervened and handed down its own punishment.

There’s no questioning Josiah’s talent. He’s been one of the brightest stories to come out of the Broncos this season and has shown he belongs at NRL level.

But talent can only take you so far.

The panel has been pretty clear on this one. Representing the Broncos is a privilege, and with that comes a responsibility to your teammates, your club and the fans. Hopefully this is the wake-up call he needs because we’d much rather be talking about his footy than his off-field decisions.

Over to the Thoroughbreds…

❓ Have the Broncos made the right call by giving him another chance?

❓ Is one final warning enough, or should the club have taken a harder stance?

👇 Let us know your thoughts.

TWO FROM TWO! 🐴🔥

The Broncos NRLW side have continued their winning ways, holding on in a 22–16 thriller against the Sharks at Ocean Protect Stadium!

And now the Thoroughbreds have a seriously tough job picking our Lady of the Match 👀

🎩 Tamika Upton — a hat-trick AND becomes the first woman in NRLW history to score 50 tries.

💪 Bri Clark — monstered her way through the Sharks for 130 run metres.

🧱 Bree Spreadborough & Lauren Dam — defensive machines with 38 tackles each.

🎯 Jesse Southwell — pulling the strings with 2 line break assists and 2 try assists.

Plenty of genuine contenders this week, Thoroughbreds…

Who was your standout? Drop your Lady of the Match nomination below 👇

🔥 8 FROM 8… DO YOU BELIEVE? 🔥

Reece Walsh hasn’t given up.

As per Joel Gould on X, Walsh believes the Broncos can still win their final eight games and keep their premiership defence alive. Considering he led the club through a 7-from-7 finish on the way to the 2025 title, you can understand why his confidence hasn’t wavered.

Joel also reports there is ongoing discussion around Walsh potentially making the same transition Darren Lockyer famously made — moving from fullback to five-eighth.

It’s an interesting one…

Some fans will point to his electrifying attack and instinctive ball-playing as reasons he’d thrive in the No.6 jersey. Others will question whether his defensive game and high-risk, high-reward style are suited to the role.

Now we want to hear from the Thoroughbreds. 👇

🏆 Can the Broncos really go 8 from 8 and make the finals?

1️⃣➡️6️⃣ Would you consider moving Reece Walsh from fullback to five-eighth, or is he a fullback for life?

And after hearing Walsh speak with so much confidence, does it give you belief that Michael Maguire still has this playing group united and believing? Especially with reports that Xavier Willison is set to re-sign.

🔥 HOT SHOT ROUND 18 – PLAYER OF THE GAME 🔥

The Thoroughbreds have spoken… and Deine Mariner is your Round 18 Hot Shot Player of the Game! 🏆🔥

What a return. In his first NRL game back after leg-saving surgery, Mariner reminded everyone just how dangerous he can be with ball in hand. His speed, footwork and willingness to compete gave the Broncos a spark every time he touched the footy. 👏

📊 Round 18 Stats:
🏉 1 Try
📈 155 Run Metres (Team High)
⚡ 2 Line Breaks (Game High)

After everything he’s been through, it was fantastic to see Deine back doing what he does best. The result didn’t go our way, but his performance gave Broncos fans something to smile about. Congratulations, Deine! 👏🐴

A massive thank you to Hot Shot Fire Services for proudly sponsoring our Player of the Game segment each and every week. We appreciate your continued support of the Penalty Broncos Podcast and the Thoroughbreds community. 🔥🤝
