The Cricket Music Bash is a Cricket event that involves local Aussie and Pacific Island Boys to showcase Cricket in a more Festival and Big Bashes style. We combine Cricket, Reggae style music, steeldrum bands, Exotic food and coloured uniforms to make cricket a more viberant feeling at club level. Formerly known as THE SUMMER MUSIC BASH our 1st event was a non profit charity event for THE MCGRATH
FOUNDATION. It first took place Sunday 21st November 2010 at Graceville Memorial Park, Graceville, Queensland - HOME OF THE STATE OF ORIGIN of Course. The Idea was put together between Levi Thomas Mathews, Tui Tulili and DJ Maxwell (From Mystique Franchise). With DJ Maxwell love for Music and Tui and Levi love for Cricket, this made an excellent ingredient to have great feel to the games. EGG on A SPOON relay. The Cricket Game was played between THE BIG BASHING PACIFIC ISLAND XI against THE EVER GRUNT MACHINE of the AUSSIE BANDITS. They play for a trophy called the THE BASHES CUP or THE BASHES.
2010 saw Pacific Islanders win by six wickets chasing 136 to win. Sunday March 4th 2012 event will be a special one - South East queensland were swamped with floods this year - Especially in the GRACEVILLE AND SURROUNDING AREAS. The event was to give the Community the Knowledge that we are here for them. That year, The Pacific Island once again took The BASHES in over night rain affected match of 30 over max. The Islanders hammered the ausse getting them all out 101. The Boys of the Pacific made it 2 in a row retaining the Bashes. This was also the 1st year the islanders and the aussies wore coloured uniforms, bringing even more flavour to the Bash. Easter Weekend Battle between the teams took place at Slacks Creek, Meakin Park what was now the new CRICKET MUSIC BASH - with a new name, came a new champions - The Aussie Bandits destroying the Pacific to a mere 79 runs after they were to chase 200+ runs to win. THE BASHES will take place March 2014 In ITS 4th year running and hopping to make it a even bigger event. Our Goal is to bring people together of all walks of life to have fun with good food, beer, music and a good game of cricket. The way it should Cricket has been made to be.
