Great start for the BDGA Pennant Season for Gailes GC at home.
A 19.5 to 1.5 win for the home team.

Games were played in great spirits and in honour of everyone’s great mate Andy Sunley.

800+m2 of turf laid around the rebuilt 1st hole bunkers before smoko.

Now we need the weather to play its part…

A big day at the Club today with 83 players vying for the 100 year old Women’s Gailes Cup.
8am Shotgun start followed by a buffet lunch and presentation.

Overall winner was Biyue “Sammi” Guo with a Nett 73 from Indooroopilly GC

All major works on the 1st hole bunkers now complete, except for the laying of turf surrounds which are planned for Monday.

Now if we can just get the 🦘🦘🦘 to rake their footprints!

Congratulations to our June Pro Shop Raffle Winners.
In first place and winning himself a limited edition Odyssey Giraffe Beam Putter was Daryl Ross. Daryl is on a winning streak at the moment as in the May Raffle Daryl won a golf bag . We may need to “ban” Daryl in purchasing a raffle ticket next month.
In second place Nathan Bailey won himself a Callaway Org 14 way divider cart bag.
In third place saw Peter McSherry taking home a Srixon Practice Ball Bag.
Congratulations to our winners and a BIG thank you to all who purchased a ticket.

A big day today with the fairway bunker being reshaped and then the CapillaryFlow liner installed. The weather forecast for rain this weekend meant it was more advantageous to get the capillary installed in the fairway bunker.
The 3 x green side bunkers have all had their EcoBunker edges installed by the team from Centaur Asia Pacific.
The fairway bunker required considerable extra work including rerouting of an old drain and irrigation line as well as removal of a lot of unsuitable soil material.
Sand installation is now rescheduled to early next week with turf to be added towards the end of next week.

Some more great progress today on the 1st bunkers.
All 3 x green side bunkers have CapillaryFlow installed.
The team from Centaur Asia Pacific have completed the EcoBunker edging on the left bunker.
If the weather is kind, we hope to have sand into the green side bunkers on Friday.

Great job by the Gailes Course crew this week on the 1st hole bunker project.
Rainfall earlier in the week slowed things a little but 2 bunkers have now been shaped and drainage outlets installed.

* the bunkers currently appear larger and deeper than the finished product.

A fantastic win in the Presidents Cup Match Play, taking out the final 2&1 against the in-form Helen Selff & Kevin Haigh in a really tight contest.

Michael and Doug have been rock solid all the way through, coming off strong wins of 3&1 and 2&1 in the earlier rounds and carrying that form right into the final.

It’s been a great few weeks of competition with some quality golf played, and this was a fitting way to finish it off.

Well played to all involved – and well deserved, lads! ⛳🏆
