In case you haven’t heard…. Pressures on Will Prest

Success on the field starts with the people behind it.

Hear from East’s players and captain Matt and Macca as they share their Easts journey, the culture within the group, and what has helped our Division 1 Men remain undefeated and sitting atop the BHL1 ladder. 🐯🐯

Our Div 1 Easts Ladies were at home today and keen to settle an old score.

Back on 28 March, Labrador Tigerstix handed the Tiges a 2–0 defeat in Round 1. Recently, Easts had gone five matches unbeaten and arrived at TigerTurf looking to balance the ledger.

So it was cat against cat. Claw against claw. Tiger against Tiger. Black and Yellow against Yellow and Black. Brisbane versus the Gold Coast.

You get the picture.

The stakes were high.

The Tiges wanted to prove they were back in business, starting the round in equal third place on the ladder. The Tigerstix wanted to show they were the real deal and force their way back into the Top 5 conversation.

Easts came out breathing fire.

For a lot of the first half it looked like the home side might feast on a shell-shocked Tigerstix outfit. But Labrador's defence had other ideas. Led by the irrepressible Imogen Burger in goals, the visitors absorbed wave after wave of pressure and somehow emerged unscathed.

Half-time: 0–0.

The second half brought a different story.

The Tigerstix lifted their intensity and gradually turned the tide. Their relentless pressure forced the Tiges into turnovers and gave Labrador the momentum they had struggled to find in the first half.

The visitors struck first, only for Easts to reply three minutes later and bring the crowd to life.

At 1–1, the match was there for the taking.

But Labrador continued to press hard, forcing another turnover deep in the Easts half and converting what proved to be the winning goal.

A fierce contest between two evenly matched sides and another reminder that there is precious little separating the leading teams this season.

The ladder is tighter than a sheep station accountant. Commercial sit clear on 31 points, Redcliffe hold second on 24, while Ascot, UQ, Easts, Kedron Wavell and Labrador are all packed together on 21–22 points.

As they say in the Veigy Jungle: sometimes you're the tiger, and sometimes you're lunch.

Final Score: Easts 1 – Labrador Tigerstix 2

PS: Our Div 1 Men travelled to the Gold Coast to play Labrador. It was First against Second. A tight match was expected, but our Tigers did indeed feast on the Tigerstix, winning 6 - 0. Wow - what a result! Bravo les mecs.
