The most common parenting mistake in sports: expecting medals just one year after the first training session.
Eight months go by — no medals in sight.
And the classic thought kicks in:
“Well… probably it’s not her thing. We’re just wasting time. Let’s pull her out.”
But right at that moment, under the surface, the real foundation was being built — technique, discipline, and the habit of hard work. The exact base on which results were about to grow.
A couple of years later, these same parents watch other girls who stayed in the sport winning medals and sigh:
“Wow, nature really gave talent to Sofina… our daughter just didn’t get it.”
Nature gave it to everyone.
The only difference? One child was taken away too early. The other was given time.
Most talented kids leave sport not because they lack ability — but because their parents weren’t willing to wait long enough.
Parents, trust the process. The results will come. 💪

Meet Harper-Lee Chard! 🔥
Just 6 months ago, Harper-Lee joined EGAC with a personal best of 13.50s in the 100m.
Today, at an international meet 🇺🇸 🇦🇺 on the Gold Coast, she ran a massive 12.36s — smashing her PB and achieving the qualifying standard for the 2027 Australian Nationals!
A student at Balmoral State High School, Harper-Lee makes the journey to QSAC after school every single day — bus, then train — because her parents work late. Rain or shine, she’s always there. No excuses. Just pure commitment.
When she first arrived, she simply said: “I want to run fast.” And she’s doing exactly that.
Huge congratulations, Harper-Lee! Your dedication and incredible determination are truly inspiring. This is only the beginning. Keep flying! 💨
Proud to have you in the EGAC family 💛🖤
