Have you ever tried swimming in sync with someone else?
It’s more than just a fun drill.
Matching another swimmer’s stroke forces you to become much more aware of your own timing.
🏊 Speed your tempo up
🏊 Slow it down
🏊 Find more distance with each stroke
🏊 Learn to adapt your stroke without losing control
Find a buddy, swim side-by-side and take turns setting the rhythm.
It can be surprisingly challenging and it’s a great way to learn what happens when you deliberately change your stroke.
Who would you try this with?
Swim Mastery Swim Studio
Learn the art and science of being at one with the water.
Our whole body swimming approach conserves energy and increases efficiency and speed by targeting specific focal points, drills and practices.
Training for a triathlon and want to swim faster? 🏊
Watch the disconnect here — head, torso, arms and legs all moving on separate timing. When his head lifts, his body sinks. When it moves left, his body follows. Nothing’s working together, and that’s exactly what’s capping his speed.
The good news? These are simple fixes. Get the timing connected and he swims faster — without swimming harder.
This is the kind of thing we work on 1:1 in the studio, using underwater video to actually see what’s happening stroke by stroke.

Does your freestyle feel harder than it should?
One of the things I hear all the time is:
“I’m reasonably fit, but swimming just feels like hard work.”
And often, getting fitter isn’t the answer.
Small changes to the way you move through the water can make an enormous difference to how swimming feels.
On 30 August, I’m running a small-group Freestyle Technique Clinic in Brisbane where we’ll slow things down, look at what your stroke is actually doing and work on the changes that can make swimming feel easier and more efficient.
We’ll use video analysis so you can see your stroke, but just as importantly, we’ll help you feel the difference in the water.

Effortless Technique. Endless Potential.
We’re excited to host Tracey Baumann, co-founder of SwimMastery, for a live technique clinic here in Brisbane. If you’ve listened to the Effortless Swimming podcast with Brenton Ford, you’ll know Tracey — she’s a regular guest, known for her feel-first, proprioception-based approach to freestyle that helps swimmers build real speed and efficiency in the water.
This clinic is your chance to get that same coaching in person, with hands-on feedback in a small group setting.

One of the best technique camp locations EVER!
From pain to possibility in one week.
Cyndi came to our Mexico Swim Camp in April not knowing what to expect. What she discovered changed everything — not just her stroke, but her body.
Her musculoskeletal therapist noticed the difference. Her scapula mobility improved. And the dream of completing a long channel swim without pain? Back on the table.
This is what happens when the right cues click at the right time.
🏊♀️ Our next swim camp is coming. Drop a 🙋 in the comments if you want to be first to know.
Is your child struggling in group swim lessons — or dreading them altogether?
You're not alone. Traditional swim schools work brilliantly for some kids, but for others — whether they're anxious, easily distracted, have sensory sensitivities, or just learn differently — the group environment can actually hold them back.
At SwimMastery Swim Studio in Sumner, we do things differently.
We offer private, one-on-one swimming in a calm, relaxed environment — no crowded pools, no waiting around, no comparison with other kids. Just focused, patient coaching tailored entirely to your child.
Our Endless Pool with underwater cameras means we can see exactly what's happening with your child's movement in the water — and fix it fast.
We work with children aged 4–14, and we're now taking enrolments for the new swim term.
If your child has struggled to progress, lost confidence, or simply never clicked with group lessons — this could be the difference.

Most triathletes exit the water already tired — shoulders burning, arms heavy before the bike even starts.
Not this one.
After working on his technique, he swam his fastest T100 split, finished with zero shoulder soreness, and had more energy for the bike than ever before.
Swim technique is your secret weapon for the whole race — not just the swim leg.
