Brisbane Shotokan Karate-Do/ SKIA Brisbane

What a wonderful week of training and socialising with SKIA members from around the country this week gone. Brisbane had the honour of hosting the 47th Annual National Training Seminar "Shotokan Week". We were graced by Kancho Kanazawa and Tanaka Sensei from SKIF Honbu dojo who demonstrated, taught and reinforced effortless, graceful Budo Karate to us.

The Australian team headed to Türkiye in November for the SKIF World Championships also found time to train together, and develop bonhomie, encourage and spur each other on to improve themselves.

14 members of the Brisbane dojo participated in the training seminar. 3 of our junior members also competed at the National Championships representing Queensland. It was their first competition entry and they did their absolute best and even came away with some medals. I'm so proud of their efforts and hope this inspires them to even better showing.

Many thanks also to Shotokan Karate International Queensland, in particular Sensei Anne Reid who orchestrated and organised the seminar. Her efforts were instrumental in bringing this event together.

Some tired bodies, but already looking forward to SW'27 in Sydney.

Fantastic training seminar with Sensei Junior. 10 hrs of intensive training in Kihon, Kata and Kumite. Many thanks to Sensei Josie from North Sydney Dojo for organising and hosting this. Small groups, individual attention. A truly immersive experience. Thank you so much and hope for many more sessions like this in the future. Great to see all the North Sydney students as well
