9/11 Commemorative Sports Day QLD Fire v Police

As we are not holding a 9/11 Sports Day this year alot of firies are entering as individuals and in teams in the Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games in October on the Gold Coast.

Registrations for these games close at the end of September. So if you are keen get on their page and follow the links to register and be involved.

Or, teams who can't find enough players are listed on the page looking for individual players to play with them if you can't find enough people?

It will be up to you to do the organising as it is not under the 9/11 Sports Day committees coordination.

Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games The 20th Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games are being held on the Gold Coast, Queensland from 10-17 October 2026.

Employees of emergency services agencies are eligible to compete.(Even those who have left with 5+yrs service)

Whilst we are taking a year off for our big 9/11 sports day, All the teams from both QFD and QPS are still very active with lots of events coming up in the second half of the year.

Our Aussie rules girls and boys and men’s basketball team are headed New York for the 25th anniversary whilst Union, league and soccer teams have a number of games coming up which will keep you posted about throughout the year.

The QFD league boys play against ADF veterans at CBUS stadium on the Gold Coast on June 20 before Panthers vs Titans - which will be great experience for the squad.

Multiple teams from both Police and Fire will be on show for the Emergency service games in October on the Gold coast.

We can’t wait for the 9/11 Sports day in 2027 - we will be back bigger and better than ever, but until then we will post scores and updates for other sporting activities for Popo and Fire throughout the year 👊🏻

Important Announcement Regarding the 9/11 Event for 2026!

We will be taking a year-long break due to various commitments at the end of the year.

This is largely due to the Emergency Service Games to be held in October on the Gold Coast, which most of the the QFD and QPS teams will be involved in.

We also have a large group of QFD players and staff traveling to New York for the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 - to pay our respects to our friends from the FDNY and NYPD.

The 9/11 Sports day is extremly important to all of us and it was a tough decision to make, however we assure you that we will be back bigger and better in 2027.

Management are right behind the event and are giving us some great support, so we will use the break to make the event stronger in the future.

Thanks to everyone that has helped set the event up over the years, the crowds that have supported us on the day and all off our awesome sponsors - you can still support our Fire and Police teams at the games in October!

It’s a day about remembrance, reflection and mateship. Getting together with our mates from Fire and Police, with our families away from the job and having fun.
