Diana's Equi Training
I am training you and your horses - Whether youโre preparing a showโjumper, polishing a dressage prospect or simply keeping a leisure horse happy.
Let's improve your seat, aids, balance and confidence. Lessons are offered in English and German / Deutsch. G'day, I am new in Brisbane and originally from Germany. During school and later in my studies I worked with professional horse trainers and sport horses in the Netherlands and Germany. Throughout my equestrian career, I have had the privilege of learning the basics of horse training. This j
Use in hand groundwork with horses as warmup, to see if your horse is jumpy or calm from the ground and simply build a relationship and switch up your training routine.

First novice test complete! ๐ Despite all the challenges leading up to it - loneliness, weather, soreness - we tried to be brave and still scored 59.4%. So proud of Fred for not giving up, even when terrified at the other end of the arena.

Please always check before buying a helmet and ask for tagging, also if you don't compete. It makes it easier for coaches to see if you and I are within the rules and regulations. Happy riding ๐ด๐ฆ๐ด

Here's a custom Novice test ride + my voice-over analysis of what went right and what went wrong... mainly what didn't go so well.
Disclaimer: Fred just had an injury and this was our second ride back, but between ride 1 and 2 we had 2 days and nights of rain, so I expected him to be imperfect. Which is great to uncover things that can go wrong.

Lateral movement hack: Forward is key! ๐
1๏ธโฃ Start with just a few steps
2๏ธโฃ Use the circle to your advantage and let that natural momentum carry you sideways.
3๏ธโฃ Soften the outside leg and drive with the inside leg
4๏ธโฃ Reset if the horse gets stuck, stiff or overly bent / flexed
๐โจ Just remember: Step forward, step sideways. Repeat. ๐ Quality over quantity, always. ๐๐ซ
Why ride on the second track? ๐ด
I challenge you to send me a video of you riding on the second track.
Are you sitting evenly? Are you using your aids evenly on both sides? Is your horse straight?
It's an easy check whether your horse is drifting, unbalanced or simply not straight.
Can your horse stay on the second track without wanting to get to the outside? It's a fantastic exercise to use both sides of your body evenly, left and right leg and rein aids as well as your body position centered.
By the way, this is what I see when I coach virtually - I can still see it all.
