Hornets Rimfire & Air Rifle Benchrest Club Brisbane

Challenging conditions at Hornets club today. Had to use the RH end of the range too. But good fun anyway. Especially when Jade makes nice muffins to enjoy. 🧁🍰

What a great bunch plenty of fun, jokes and laughter just makes the day great .
Conditions weren't great but manageable with patience. several were using today for fine tuning and practice for the upcoming SSAA Nationals so best of luck to those members that are competing.
Pleasingly everybody's skills are improving, getting more proficient at handling difficult conditions especially Tara who is giving Dad a lesson or two, Those Swan barrels seam to be a bit of help there, just saying.
Can't finish without mentioning Jade's cupcakes to make the day perfect.

Well what what a terrible day, probably the worst conditions if seen at BISC. Super strong wind and flicking from green to red instantly . Good thing I didn't shoot.
Scores reflected how bad it was but also gave everyone valuable experience in bad conditions, it will stand in good for future comps.
What I thought was a standout performance was Tara keeping it together on the last card and coming 3rd overall.
Well done.

Just a club practice shoot held yesterday.
There is a Club match shoot next Sunday 19th actually. Make sure you are there!
Anyway good attendances yesterday. We did a small working bee later. Simon and Jeff have been upgrading the benches with cross bracing. Now trialing different wheels. Also some replacing of sheeting at target catchers.
Just BTW, Club president/secretary Simon did very well at recent State SSAA Rimfire championship at Millmerran. Won the IRB (2 days) and Group shooting for HV class and the combined for groups. 👏👏👏

Posted here are the details released for the upcoming National Championships in Rimfire and Air rifle Benchrest competition (WRABF). To be held in Brisbane November 11-15 at the Brisbane International Shooting Centre (BISC).

Last Sundays scores from the club match. A couple of things to note, Roger Sheehy has been a member for a long time and slowly but surely been improving his scores. On Sunday he shot his first ever 250 target. He was very happy. Well done indeed Roger. 👏
Also Matt B is a regular visitor to Hornets now days and shot a 250 which I believe was his first too. 👏

A couple of other shooters not on this score sheet but there doing Air Rifle. Interesting to see Neil sneaking in with a new design of Unlimited class Air rifle!

Allow an extra hour or so for this club shoot. Because of Morning tea and a club meeting to discuss planning for National Championships in November.

May Comp over, conditions weren't great switching wind, rain squalls but some good stuff for those that waited ( maybe ). Great day was had with plenty of happy banter or having a go depends on your point of view😁. Special mention to Jade for setting a up a wonderful morning tea to take away the stress of dealing with the conditions. Another special mention goes to Darryl shooting his air rifle at 25, an outstanding result compared to others shooting rimfire. Many Hornets members were also at Belmont shooting in the 2026 rimfire Fly championship today and took out most of the top 6 places. Go Hornets👍
