Lining up for Brisbane’s biggest ultra is an accomplishment in itself, but clocking over 500 km of Guzzler trails earns true legendary status. Gerard has laced up for every single edition since day one, staying stubborn and keeping the streak alive no matter where life took him.

Here’s what keeps Gerard coming back:

"The Guzzler was the first trail race and first ultra I signed up for. It lit something inside me, and I kept coming back even when I lived on the Sunny Coast and Perth—because I could.

The race has grown while keeping that beautiful community spirit. I love seeing the different generations of shirts out there. I’ve reconnected with old friends, introduced new ones to the trails, and get to role-model choosing to do hard things to my kids. I haven’t missed one yet!"

🔥 Hell Hole Hustle Champions 2026 🔥

The race within the race!

The Hell Hole Hustle challenged our runners to make a tough decision — do you unleash everything through Hell Hole to chase the crown, or save your legs for the ultimate Guzzler finish?

Congratulations to our 2026 Hustle King and Queen:

These two smashed their way through one of the toughest sections of the course to claim the bragging rights, the glory, and an awesome prize pack!

A huge thank you to the Brisbane 4WD Club for bringing the Hell Hole Hustle to life, supporting this section, and adding plenty of atmosphere for runners as they tackled the challenge.

And of course, a big shout out to FIXX Nutrition for keeping runners fuelled and helping provide the much-needed cramp FIXX. There are few places on course where it’s more appreciated!

🌿 Leave No Trace

We’ve always been proud of the trail running community, and this weekend was another great example of why.

After The Guzzler Ultra, we received some fantastic feedback from the 4WD Club that the trails were looking clean and clear of gels, wrappers and rubbish after the event.

We expect no less from our runners — respecting the trails is part of what makes these events possible.

We also heard some awesome stories of individuals stopping to pick up rubbish they came across on course, and our dedicated sweep teams did their part to ensure the trails were left in great condition after the event.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped care for the trails and the places we love to run. 💚

The Guzzler Ultra simply wouldn’t be possible without the amazing people who give their time, energy and encouragement to support runners out on course.

From early mornings to late nights, our checkpoint and aid station crews were there with a smile, a refill, a snack and the words of encouragement runners needed to keep moving.

A DNF doesn't define your journey.

Not every race ends with a finish line photo. Sometimes the bravest decision is knowing when to stop.

Trail running has a way of testing us in ways we never expect. The weather, the terrain, the body, the mind—some days everything lines up, and some days it doesn't.

If The Guzzler wasn't your day, remember this: you still showed up. You trained. You stood on the start line. You gave it everything you had.

That's something to be proud of.

The trails will still be there. Another start line will come. Every setback teaches us something, and every attempt makes us stronger.

A DNF isn't the end of your story—it's just one chapter.

🥹 "Trot to Tracy!"

One of our favourite moments from The Guzzler Ultra- Lightline this weekend.

As Meagan climbed the relentless hill into our aid station she repeated her mantra...

"Trot to Tracy... Trot to Tracy..."

She knew that at the top of the climb there would be smiling faces, encouragement and people ready to help her before heading back out onto the trail.

It's one of the beautiful things about volunteering.

Over the years the runners have become part of our family.

They arrive tired, sore and emotional.
We remember their names.
They remember ours.

There's always a hug, a laugh and often a promise...

"We'll see you next year."

Trail running is so much more than kilometres.

It's people.

It's community.

It's belonging.
