My heart goes out to Annabelle Smith and Maddie Keeney in the Women's 3 metre Synchronised Springboard. Diving is such a hard sport - so many things to think of in so few seconds. You are both champions and exemplary examples to young Aussie athletes.

A giant of the world-wide Olympic sporting community and, particularly, the Australian sporting community, passed away today. I was very fortunate to know Kevan Gosper for all of my Olympic career and then beyond. A two time Olympian and silver medallist in the 4x400m relay (aths) in 1956, Kevan went on to be the President of the Australian Olympic Committee, the Vice President of the International Olympic Committee, and the inaugural Chairman of the Australian Institute of Sport. His tireless efforts are largely responsible for the opportunities Aussie sportspeople now enjoy as they climb to elite performance. But what I remember about him most is his strength, compassion, encouragement and sense of humour. Thank you, Kevan, for making the world a much better place. Love to Judy and family.

AOC mourns passing of Kevan Gosper AO The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) is mourning the passing of Kevan Gosper AO, a true giant of the Olympic movement.

Looking forward to a glittering occasion tomorrow night with Jennifer King. I would normally be a Table Captain at this dinner, but tomorrow I am both honoured and humbled to be invited as a guest. I have always felt it to have been a great honour and privilege to represent this wonderful country, and am continually grateful to be in a position to make a positive difference in people's lives. Thank you to the AOC and the Organising Committee for this wonderful opportunity.
