👉 If you're planning on breastfeeding or are currently on that journey, your nursing bra can play an important role in your comfort and support. It shouldn’t be an afterthought.
Save this video for some of the key things to check when choosing a nursing bra, and send it to someone who’s pregnant or breastfeeding too. 💕
Here’s our checklist:
✅ 1. ALLOW FOR VOLUME FLUCTUATION
Breast volume can fluctuate throughout the day, particularly before and after feeds. Your nursing bra needs enough flexibility to adapt without becoming restrictive, cutting into the breast or creating unnecessary pressure.
Look for cups and fabrics that move with those changes while still giving you support.
⚠️ Bigger isn’t necessarily better. Buying several sizes too large can mean sacrificing support elsewhere.
✅ 2. MAKE SURE YOU CAN USE IT ONE-HANDED
It sounds like a small detail until you’re holding a hungry baby. 😅
When trying on a nursing bra, test the clips with one hand. Can you easily unclip AND clip it back up again?
The cup should also move easily out of the way so you can access the breast without fabric becoming another thing to manage during a feed.
✅ 3. DO NOT SACRIFICE SUPPORT
Your breasts may feel heavier and change in volume during this period, so adequate support can make a big difference to everyday comfort.
The right support will depend on your size, breast shape and preference, and it doesn’t automatically mean you need a flexi-wire. A well-fitted band, supportive cup construction and straps that work together all matter.
👉 Don’t wait until you desperately need a nursing bra to start thinking about one.
Your body can change significantly throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding, so having the right support for where your body is NOW can make those early feeding days easier to navigate.
SAVE this for later or SHARE it with a pregnant or breastfeeding mum who might need it. 💕
