๐ฅ SIDE KICK SATURDAY! ๐ฅPower, balance and control! ๐ฅ
Today weโre featuring 2nd Kup, Ivy from our Bicton Dojang, putting her Side Kick into action at the recent First Tae Kwon Do WA Ladies Training Session held on Sunday, 9 August 2026, at the South Perth Community Centre.
Ivy demonstrates great technique, with a strong chamber, extension and focus through the target. ๐๐ฅ
The Ladies Training Session was a fantastic opportunity for our female students from across WA to train together, develop their skills and support one another in a positive training environment.
Great work, Ivy! Keep kicking! ๐ฅ

One of the many challenges in the grading exam awaits our 2nd Kup (Brown Belt) students applying for 1st Kup.
As part of their examination, they must spar two Black Belts at the same timeโa demanding test that pushes their fitness, composure, strategy and fighting spirit to the limit.
With attacks coming from multiple directions, there is no opportunity to switch off. Students must demonstrate strong footwork, awareness, controlled techniques and the ability to stay calm under constant pressure. It's a true measure of how well they can apply the skills they have developed throughout their martial arts journey.
This challenge is about showing determination, resilience and the ability to perform under pressure.

๐ Happy Motherโs Day from First TKD WA! ๐ Today we celebrate the incredible mothers across all our WA branches who continue to inspire us both on and off the dojang floor. Our 2026 Motherโs Day Collage is a tribute to the women who not only encourage their children through their TaeKwonDo journey, but who also have the courage and commitment to train alongside them. ๐ฅ
There is something truly special about a mother who leads by example. โค๏ธ Through every class, every challenge, and every grading, these women show their children the value of perseverance, humility, discipline, and inner strength. ๐ช They prove that growth never has an age limit and that true leadership comes through action.
Between work, family commitments, and the endless responsibilities of everyday life, our TKD mums still make time to better themselves physically and mentally. ๐ That dedication deserves enormous respect. Their presence within our dojangs helps create the strong family culture that First TKD is proud of. ๐
To every mother in our First TKD family โ thank you for your support, your kindness, your resilience, and the example you set for the next generation. ๐ท We are proud to have you as part of our community and grateful for everything you do.
If this collage touches your heart, please like โค๏ธ, comment ๐ฌ, and share ๐ as we celebrate these amazing women today.

Grading Highlights โ Power & Precision ๐ฅ 2nd Kup Rosie (Bicton Dojang) demonstrating outstanding commitment and control as she executes a Flying Side Kick board break during her exam on 7 December 2025.
This demanding technique requires timing, balance, height, and decisive power โ and Rosie delivered under pressure as part of her grading requirements.
A strong performance that reflects consistent training, confidence in technique, and the fighting spirit we expect at senior kup level. Well done, Rosie โ keep setting the standard ๐

Bicton Dojang โ Dan Preparation in Action ๐ฅ A few of our 2nd Dan candidates enjoyed a focused and challenging training session yesterday at First Martial Arts WA โ Bicton Dojang, working closely with our WA State Senior Instructor, Andrew.
Our prospective Dan candidates are given 18 monthsโ notice to prepare for their next Dan examination. Throughout this preparation period, their progress is closely monitored by the WA State Senior Instructor, ensuring all required standards are met โ including technique, fitness, strength, and overall performance โ before they are approved to sit their exam in front of Master Instructor Vernon Low.
If a candidate is not yet performing at the expected high Dan-level standard, their promotion is delayed by a further 12 months. This process maintains the integrity, quality, and respect of our Black Belt ranks.
Strong standards. Proper preparation. Earned promotions. ๐
