The Bentley Cricket Club wishes to offer condolences to life member Chris Lockyer and family with the recent passing of younger brother Stuart.

Whilst Stuart only officially took the field in two matches for Bentley in the late 80's and early 90's (Player No. 365), his contribution to his native Phoenix is worth celebrating in its own right. It's evident that the Perth cricket community has lost a true club stalwart and an immeasurably valuable contributor on and off-field.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our great mate and long-time clubman, Stuart Lockyer, who passed away yesterday after a short stay in hospital.

Stu was a proud Phoenix cricketer for more than 25 years, playing 232 matches for the club and being part of five premiership-winning teams. His contribution to Phoenix extended far beyond his playing days. He generously served as a committee member and club registrar for several seasons and dedicated many years to umpiring in the SMCA, always giving back to the game he loved.

Stu was one of those people who embodied what our club is all about. Loyal, dependable and always willing to help, he made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of playing alongside him or knowing him around the club.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Nicola, Mark, Sam, Chris and the entire Lockyer family, as well as Stu's many friends and teammates, during this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you for everything you gave to Phoenix Cricket Club, Stu. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Rest easy, mate. β€οΈπŸ–€
