Wow, what a fitting finale to the NDCA pennant season.
The Grandfinal was played at Kyneton CC who is celebrating their 150th birthday this year. The weather couldn’t have been better- a lovely sunny winter day.
In Div 1-2 the Quarry Hill Galahs (Colleen Coutts and Barry Lovell) played Golden Maldon (Garry D***s and Allan Breen) it was close all day and at the completion of the doubles and singles it was 3 games all and 35 hoops apiece. They then had to play a 5 hoop doubles to decide the winner- first hoop to the Galahs, second and third to Golden Maldon, fourth hoop to the Galahs and then after a real tussle Golden Maldon got the fifth. Commiserations Colleen and Barry and congratulations to Garry and Allan.
The Div 3 final was between 2 Golden Square teams- Shooters (Lyn Breen and Mark James) and Gold (Nigel Gaul and Kathy Montgomery).
After close games Shooters were victorious winning 4 games to 2.
The matches were followed by presentations to the winners by Pat Fahy of Kyneton representing the NDCA.
A big thank you to Trevor Ware for refereeing for the grand-finals

It was preliminary final day for NDCA pennant at Quarry Hill today. The weather was atrocious, raining for a good part of the day and very cold.
In Div 1-2 two Quarry Hill teams, the Robins and the Galahs, were playing each other. It came down to the last doubles with the Galahs (Colleen Coutts and Barry Lovell) winning it and beating the Robins (Nick Quirk and Trevor Ware) by 1 hoop overall.
Congratulations to the Galahs and commiserations to the Robins.
In Division 3 the Maldon Maples (Ann Metz and Chris Cooper) played Golden Square Gold (Nigel Gaul and Kathy Montgomery) with Gold winning 5 games to 1 and 37 to 26 hoops. Congratulations to Golden Square Gold and commiserations to Maldon Maples.

VICTORIAN COUNTRY 2026 ASSOCIATION CROQUET REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ballarat & District Croquet Association recently hosted the 46th Country AC Regionals with seven regions competing in four divisions. The event was run over 3 days at Ballarat Western and Ballarat Alexandra Clubs. The team event is decided on the hoop aggregates. Individual division results are decided in the usual manner of games then hoops.
This year the team event result was tied for first with Goulburn Valley and Geelong both accumulating 398 hoops. Northern District came in third with 348. The individual winners were Div. 1 Stephen Forster (Geelong), Div. 2 Damien Hadfield (Northern District), Div. 3 Darren Barnes (Murray Valley), and Div. 4 Darren Lester (Ballarat). The award of player with most potential was Kevin Milner (Goulburn Valley).
The event was enjoyed by participants, both as competitors and socially with attendance at a welcome BBQ at Alexandra CC and a more formal event dinner at the Ballarat Golf Club. VIP guests at the dinner were the Mayor of Ballarat, Cr. Tracey Hargraves and the President of VCA, Kate Patrick.
And as a bonus, the Ballarat weather was ideal with sunny days and moderate temperatures through the tournament.
