Reflections from the platform
I competed in a kettlebell sport competition at Daylesford yesterday.
It wasn't the biggest event I've ever done. But it was significant for another reason.
It was the first competition we've done since losing our coach, Don.
And I don't think I realised just how much his presence had been holding until he wasn't there.
His programming.
His structure.
His periodisation.
His expertise.
His guidance.
But most of all, his belief in us.
The last few weeks have felt messy and a little lost as I've adjusted to his absence. Without someone else setting the path, I've had to think more. Take more ownership. Find more intrinsic motivation. Be more purposeful about how I'm training and how I show up for myself.
And I've really noticed how much I'd loved having someone else do the thinking for me.
Because I do a LOT of thinking for everyone else.
I'm the coach. The one holding the space. Helping people find their goals, make sense of what's happening, create strategies and believe in what's possible.
Don gave me somewhere to put that down.
But yesterday I discovered something.
Even though he isn't here to believe in me…
I can believe in myself.
The things he taught me haven't disappeared with him.
They're in my body.
They're in my technique.
They're in the little adjustments I know to make without someone telling me.
They're in the voice in my head saying, you've got this.
And then, as I lifted yesterday, something else happened.
I experienced something I've spent so much time talking about with other people.
Returning to centre.
When I first started my lift, I was nervous.
My muscles were jittery. My legs weren't as stable as I'd like. I was struggling to fixate at the top.
My attention was being pulled away from me.
The judge.
The music.
The people around me.
The clock.
The other lifters.
The possibility of getting it wrong.
But instead, I noticed how I brought it back.
One rep.
One technique cue.
One side.
The other side.
Again.
Again.
Again.
I didn't need the nerves to disappear before I could perform.
I just stayed with myself until they passed.
And they did.
My body warmed up.
My breathing settled.
And eventually I found this beautiful rhythm.
Every now and then my attention would drift outward — I'd check the judge, the reps, the time, hear the music — but then it would come back.
Back to my body.
Back to my technique.
Back to the next repetition.
Back to me.
And that, I think, is something I've been trying to understand more deeply through the work I'm doing on my book, Return to Centre.
Returning to centre doesn't mean staying inward.
It doesn't mean blocking out the world.
It doesn't mean becoming perfectly calm or perfectly focused.
It means being able to notice when you've moved away from yourself…
…and knowing how to come back.
At around 15 minutes, fatigue started to creep in.
"OK, time to adjust " I told myself.
So I softened.
I slowed my pace.
I relaxed into the movement. And I settled again.
And when I had five minutes to go, I knew it was time.
I knew Don was standing there, saying "pick it up"
So, I ramped it up.
Three minutes to finish.
I picked up the pace.
I nailed every rep.
And I finished strong.
I still had gas in the tank.
Afterwards, some of the more experienced lifters told me my technique was strong, rhythmic and on point.
It was lovely to hear.
But the validation wasn't what made me proud.
I was proud because I knew.
I knew when I was leaving centre.
I knew how to come back.
I trusted my body.
I trusted what I'd learned from Don.
And I trusted myself.
And then I cried.
Because this is the moment where Don would have swooped in.
The hug.
The congratulations.
The celebration.
The belief.
I could hear his voice in my head.
I could feel the things he'd taught me in my body.
And I realised that although I would give anything to have him standing there…
he had already given me something that couldn't be taken away.
He taught me enough that I could eventually do it myself.
He taught all of us, and we all embodied his energy together.
That's the legacy of a great coach.
Not that you need them forever.
But that one day, when they're no longer standing beside you, you can hear their voice inside you…
…and find your own. And you can share it with others.
Yesterday, I didn't just compete.
I experienced my own work.
I experienced Don's work.
In real time.
Under pressure.
In my body.
And perhaps that's what returning to centre really is.
Not becoming someone different.
Not never getting distracted.
Not never feeling nervous.
But learning that no matter how far your attention travels…
you can always come home to yourself.
And then, from that centre, you can lift.
You can expand.
You can finish strong.
You can become more fully YOU.

For a very long time, I’ve had this quiet knowing that there was a book in me.
The problem was never the writing. It was the question: What could I possibly write that would matter? that would make an impact for someone?
The fears have been familiar companions:
🫣 I’m not an expert.
🫣 Who am I to write a book?
🫣 What could I possibly have to share that is significant enough?
🫣 And perhaps the hardest of all… this book includes parts of my childhood, my growth, my dark times, and my own journey that feel deeply personal and vulnerable.
But something has shifted.
I can’t quite put my finger on it yet, but as I’ve started writing, I’ve found myself falling in love with the process.
I’m reflecting on experiences I hadn’t looked at in years. I’m following threads of inquiry and insight with genuine curiosity. And instead of forcing words onto a page, it feels as though they’re pouring out of me.
What’s surprising me most is this: all the pieces I’ve been exploring for the last ten years—coaching, mindset, movement, emotions, somatic embodiment, wellbeing, energy, grief, identity, human behaviour, the stories and beliefs we inherit, and the stories we choose—are beginning to weave themselves into one thing.
One philosophy.
One body of work.
And the reason I started 'The Energy Centr' in the first place.
A book I’ve known all along, but couldn’t quite see clearly until now.
It’s called 'Return to Centre'.
It’s about how we lose touch with ourselves. How we disconnect from our true, inner, most authentic self—our centre.
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard someone say, “I don’t know who I am anymore.”
That was me, ten years ago.
My focus and attention had become so fixed on everything outside of me that I no longer knew what I wanted, what mattered to me, or who I was beneath all the roles, expectations, and responsibilities.
And if that is where you find yourself right now, I want this book to be a beacon.
A reminder that you are not broken.
That you are not alone.
That losing yourself can happen slowly, quietly, almost without noticing—and that returning to yourself is possible.
This book is about that journey.
Back through witnessing. Back through unbecoming. Back through compassion.
Back to the deepest parts of ourselves that we learned to hide in order to be loved, accepted, safe, or enough.
It will include some of my story, but it will also honour the journeys of so many people I’ve had the privilege of walking beside—people who, in their own way, have returned to their centre too.
I don’t know exactly where this will lead.
I only know that I’m genuinely excited, and that this process has re-ignited my passion for the work I do.
So this is me, putting it out there.
Stepping into the vulnerable space that is authenticity.
And if you’ve ever worked with me—as a coaching client, in a workshop, or through movement—don’t be surprised if I reach out. It's your story that helped me get to this very moment.

She conquered her own mountain.
Not every mountain looks the same, but the feeling of conquering it is just as spectacular.
Jumping was not in Cecilia's list of strengths. But we started small and built the strength, patterning and trust. Today, Cecilia faced something that had once felt impossible. A fear that had quietly shaped what she believed she could and couldn't do. And then… she did it.
That smile isn't just about a jump.
It's about courage.
It's about trust.
It's about 'I can' and 'I did'.
These are the victories that matter most—the ones that change the way we see ourselves.
I couldn't be prouder for you, Cecilia. 💛
Congratulations Gurl!! 🙌

This week has been a big week of reflection.
For a long time, I thought I needed to choose one path.
Fitness.
Coaching.
Workshops.
Personal development.
Movement.
Mindset.
But the more I learned, the more I realised they were never separate. Because us as humans, we aren't separate.
Over the years I've spent countless hours studying, listening, observing, coaching, teaching, training, questioning and reflecting. I've celebrated breakthroughs with people, sat with them in heartbreak, watched them grow stronger in the gym, become more confident in themselves, and reconnect with parts of who they thought they'd lost.
Every conversation, every class, every workshop, every success, every mistake and every lesson has become another piece of the puzzle.
Some ideas stayed.
Some I let go of.
Some completely changed the way I see people and the way I coach.
Slowly, without really noticing, those pieces began to connect.
What emerged wasn't just a business.
It was a philosophy.
A belief that lasting change doesn't happen by fixing one part of ourselves. It happens when we learn to understand ourselves, move our bodies, challenge our thinking, process our emotions, build meaningful connection and create lives that are aligned with who we truly are.
But perhaps the biggest lesson of all has been this...
In a world that so often feels unsafe, we become experts at protecting ourselves.
We build walls.
We armour up.
We disconnect from our bodies.
We silence our emotions.
We hide parts of ourselves because somewhere along the way they didn't feel safe to be seen.
I've come to realise that healing isn't about forcing those walls down.
It's about creating enough safety that they no longer need to stand so tall.
That's what I hope The Energy Centr is for every person who walks through the door.
A safe place to move your body without judgement.
A safe place to explore your thoughts without criticism.
A safe place to feel your emotions without needing to apologise for them.
A safe place to reconnect with yourself, one small step at a time.
Because when you begin to feel safe within yourself, something incredible happens.
You stop needing the world around you to provide that safety.
You carry it with you.
Into your relationships.
Into your workplace.
Into your family.
Into life's challenges.
That's what The Energy Centr has become.
Not a gym.
Not a coaching practice.
Not a wellbeing workshop.
A place where people can come home to themselves.
Thank you to every person who has trusted me with a small part of their journey. You've shaped mine just as much as I hope I've shaped yours.
This is only the beginning.

I used to believe I was too much.
Too deep.
Too emotional.
Too caring.
Too energetic.
Too invested in people.
For a long time, I wondered if I needed to make myself smaller. To fit in.
Now I've realised...
My muchness isn't something to hide.
It's one of my greatest gifts.
My muchness is seeing yours.
I see the courage hiding beneath fear.
I see the kindness beneath protection.
I see the strength beneath exhaustion.
I see the light beneath the doubt.
I don't see broken people.
I see beautiful human beings who have learnt to protect the very parts of themselves that make them who they are.
The laughter that became quieter.
The heart that learnt to love cautiously.
The spirit that stopped taking up space.
The essence that has always been there, patiently waiting to be seen again.
If I can offer one thing to the people who cross my path, it's this...
To truly witness you.
To see beyond the roles, the masks, the expectations and the survival strategies.
To gently hold a vision of who you are until you're ready to hold it yourself.
Until you can see it too, I'll hold that vision for you.
Not because you need me to become who you are—
but because sometimes borrowed belief is enough to illuminate the path home.
✨️ Maybe that's where healing begins.
Not in becoming someone new...
but in remembering the person you've been all along.

Sometimes we spend so much energy focusing on everything we think we're not...
Not strong enough.
Not confident enough.
Not doing enough.
Not where we thought we'd be.
But what if we paused for a moment and gave equal attention to everything we are?
✨ We are resilient.
✨ We are growing.
✨ We are learning.
✨ We are enough.
✨ We are showing up, even on the hard days.
The truth is, our inner critic often speaks louder than our inner wisdom. But our worth has never been determined by the stories fear tells us.
Today, I choose to remember who I am, not who I fear I'm not.
What would be on your "I am..." list? 💙

Term 3 is off to a cracking start! 🔥
What an awesome first week with the Mars Movement crew... and the Small Squad PT legends!
This term we're continuing our much-loved Butt & Gut focus, building strong glutes and a resilient core, while layering in sling and rotational movement to create strength that transfers into everyday life. It's all about moving well, getting stronger, and building bodies that are capable both in and out of the gym.
A similar philosophy is flowing through our Small Squad PT sessions too—quality movement, functional strength, and helping each person become stronger for real life, not just stronger in the gym.
But perhaps my favourite part of the week has been the conversations between sets... 👀
It seems a few of the girls are quietly hatching plans to put together a Mars Movement relay team for the Wycheproof King of the Mountain! 💙💛
Nothing is official just yet, but I absolutely love watching confidence grow and seeing people inspire each other to step outside their comfort zones.
That's what this community is all about.
We don't just train together—we encourage each other, laugh together, celebrate every win, and discover we're capable of so much more than we first believed.
Here's to another term of building strong bodies, resilient minds, and unforgettable friendships.
Let's keep the momentum rolling! 💪✨
