Seiko decided to take on HYROX because she wanted something to keep her motivated, challenge her training and, most importantly, give her a goal to work towards.

What started as a goal has become a journey of strength, consistency and pushing beyond her comfort zone.

Here’s Seiko’s story…

It was my first HYROX, and I was fortunate enough to have Lauren as my coach. We started by focusing on improving my running, then worked through each of the eight HYROX stations one by one. At the beginning, I couldn’t even manage 10 Wall Balls in a row, and I still couldn’t do the Sled Pull or Sled Push just three weeks before the race. There were definitely moments when I felt like giving up. But I trusted Lauren, kept going, and by the final week I was finally able to complete all eight movements.

The actual race was far harder than I had imagined. Lauren had given me one very important piece of advice: don’t get caught up in anyone else’s pace, and stay with my own. As this was my first HYROX, my goal was simply to finish. Throughout the race, I kept repeating three words to myself: “Strong. The universe is on my side. Finish.” HYROX challenged me not only physically, but mentally. It required me to find a level of strength and resilience I didn’t know I had.

My biggest takeaway is much like a lesson in life: don’t compare yourself to others. Find your own pace, keep moving forward, and trust your own journey. When you do, there can be an incredible sense of joy and achievement waiting for you on the other side, far beyond anything you imagined.

Finally, I would like to thank Jessica for incorporating HYROX exercises into the HIIT class. And, above all, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Lauren, who supported me and believed in me right through to the finish line. She guided me through every stage of my training and continued to believe in me even during the moments when I doubted myself. I was able to cross that finish line because I trusted her words and kept going.
Lauren, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now that HYROX is behind me, I’m already looking for my next challenge.

A very special group of Energize members and staff are riding for sick and injured kids.
When a child is seriously ill or injured, the whole family is affected. Parents often need to leave their homes, work and support networks so their child can receive life-saving treatment far from home. It’s a time of stress, uncertainty and enormous emotional and financial pressure.
That’s why they're taking part in The Big Spin for Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney.
They'll be riding a spin bike for 12 hours!!! in Sydney at Fleet Steps in the Royal Botanic Gardens to raise funds that help families stay close to their child in hospital. Your support will provide a home-away-from-home near the hospital, daily meals, emotional care and more. From the moment of diagnosis and for as long as it takes, your generosity helps keep families together when they need it most.
Please support them with a tax-deductible donation. Every dollar makes a difference for families with a seriously ill or injured child. Click this link, your support means everything to us and the families and children we are riding for:

What starts as a commitment to yourself can completely change your life. ✨
When Tamara joined Energize after her second pregnancy, her goal was simple: prioritise her health. She never imagined that journey would lead to losing over 50kg and standing on the start line of her very first solo Hyrox. Here's her story...
"Hi my name is Tamara, I competed in my first solo Hyrox and it's just the beginning and here is the why.
After my second pregnancy I finally decided to put myself first and focus on my health. I joined Energize and focused more on weight loss which then led to strength building.
After losing 50ish kilos I decided the next goal would be to complete a Hyrox.
I trained consistently at the gym and the NRG classes were a great boost for me to refine my technique on some fundamental movements. I then trained independently, focusing on incorporating Hyrox movements into my training to build the endurance needed to perform under fatigue.
What I love about training at Energize is the community feeling, support and the bonus that all the equipment needed to train for something like this is available.
Whether it's training first thing in the morning or bringing the kids along, I know I'm covered. And honestly couldn't be happier."
Tamara, your journey is about so much more than a finish line. It's about choosing yourself, showing up consistently, and proving that small steps lead to extraordinary results.
Congratulations on your first solo HYROX - we have no doubt this is only the beginning, and we can't wait to see what challenge you conquer next! 🙌

Sometimes the best adventures start with saying yes.
Our PT Ariane wasn't planning on taking on HYROX this year, but after being encouraged by another PT (who sadly had to withdraw due to injury), she decided to give it a go. She found a new teammate, committed to the training, and despite wondering if she might be "too old" for an event like this, she showed up and proved to herself that age is just a number.
Here's what Ariane had to say after crossing the finish line:
"All the hard work paid off! Such a wonderful event full of people of all ages and fitness levels. It just proves you're never too old to give it a go! Now... what's next?"
We couldn't be prouder, Ariane!
The biggest lesson? Say yes. You never know what you're capable of until you give yourself the chance. 💪

Some of the best memories are made when you step outside your comfort zone—and even better when you bring your friends along. 💞
After tackling HYROX solo last year, one of our amazing members Jenny went back in 2026 with a team of fellow nurses, proving that fitness is even more rewarding when it's shared with others!

"Last year, somehow I survived a solo Hyrox with almost no training, with plenty of penalties and a couple of trips to the medics.
But what stayed with me wasn't the pain or suffering, it was the incredible atmosphere, the music, the energy and everyone cheering each other on.
So this year I managed to convince my fellow nurses to join me. We had the best day!
It felt like we had been out one massive clubbing night together, just with some burpees, broad jumps and sled push instead of dancing! And the sore muscles the next day were our version of hang over.
Hyrox brought us lots of laughs, plenty of cheering, a bit of suffering and memories we will never forget. Who's in? It would be great to have a big Team Energize at Hyrox next year!"
This is exactly what Energize is all about—challenging yourself, supporting each other, sharing plenty of laughs, and creating memories that last long after the finish line.
We're so proud of this incredible team for taking on HYROX together and embracing every moment of the experience. 💪
Who's keen to join Team Energize at HYROX next year? We think it's time we showed up in force! 🙌

Strength isn't just built in the gym—it's built through life's challenges.
This year, our incredible instructor Emily took on HYROX, not just to test her fitness, but to rediscover herself. Her journey is a powerful reminder that movement can heal, purpose can be found through challenge, and we're capable of so much more than we think. Here is what Emily said:

"I signed up for HYROX because I wanted to find myself again.
I've always loved competitive sports and challenging myself. After having three children and recently separating from my marriage last year, I felt like I needed something that was just for me. I wanted a challenge, something that would push me mentally, give me purpose in my training, and remind me of what my body is capable of.
Exercise has always been a huge support for my mental health. Training for HYROX gave me a healthy focus during a difficult season and a goal to work towards each day.
I'm a firm believer that we can do hard things. So much of it comes down to mindset. We're often stronger, fitter, and more capable than we give ourselves credit for.
I finished 36th out of 140 women in the 35–39 age group, with an overall time of 1 hour and 24 minutes. In the women's individual open event.
One of the biggest surprises was the 100 kg sled push—an exercise I was convinced I'd struggle with. Instead, I placed 19th in that event.
I'm incredibly grateful for the experience and happy to have been part of HYROX.
What did my weekly training look like?
5-6 days a week of training.
To be honest I didn't get out to do as much running as I like so I definitely give the spin bike lots of credit! I would always try for 1 run.
3 spin classes a week then usually after spin I would do a few strength machines on the gym floor. Upper or lower body.
One HIIT session a week practising either or together (burpees, rower, ski erg or wall balls)"
Emily's journey is proof that fitness isn't always about chasing a time or a placing—it's about building resilience, confidence and believing in yourself again. We're so proud of everything she's achieved, both on and off the HYROX course.
Congratulations, Emily! 💪✨
