🏐 EVERYONE HAS A ROLE TO PLAY: THE TEAM MANAGER 🏐

Our next spotlight is on the person who often keeps everything running behind the scenes — the Team Manager.

Being a Team Manager is about much more than making sure the team sheet is filled in. They are an important link between the club, coach, players and families and play a big part in creating an organised and positive game-day experience.

A great Team Manager:

📋 Keeps things organised — helping make sure team requirements, game-day information and important details are communicated clearly.

📣 Communicates effectively — sharing relevant information with families and players while helping avoid confusion and unnecessary stress.

🤝 Supports the coach — allowing the coach to focus on coaching by helping with the many organisational tasks that happen around the team.

👥 Supports players and families — being a friendly point of contact and helping everyone understand what is expected of them.

🏐 Helps create a positive team environment — encouraging respect, inclusion, teamwork and good sportsmanship.

🚫 Leaves the coaching to the coach — supporting the coach's decisions rather than directing players from the sideline or getting involved in coaching matters.

💚 Represents the club — remembering that their behaviour and communication contribute to the way our club is experienced by players, families, officials and opposition teams.

The Team Manager may not be the loudest voice around the court, but they play an incredibly important role in helping a team function smoothly.

👏 To all of our BNA Team Managers — thank you for the time, organisation and support you provide to our teams and families each week.

Our next spotlight is on one of the most influential people around the court — the Coach.

Being a coach is about so much more than teaching skills and deciding positions. Coaches play an important role in creating a positive, respectful and supportive environment for their players.

A great coach:

🏐 Leads by example — showing respect to players, officials, opposition and other coaches.

📣 Communicates positively — providing clear instruction, encouragement and constructive feedback.

🤝 Supports every player — creating an environment where players feel valued, included and confident to learn.

🧠 Teaches more than netball — helping players develop teamwork, resilience, accountability and good sportsmanship.

👂 Respects the officials — remembering that questioning or challenging decisions from the sideline doesn't set the example we want our players to follow.

❤️ Puts development and enjoyment first — remembering that every player is there to learn, improve and enjoy their netball.

The coach sets the tone for the team.

When coaches model respect, composure, encouragement and good sportsmanship, players are far more likely to do the same.

🏐 COACHES! | FINAL MINI SERIES SESSION THIS SATURDAY 🏐

Calling all BNA coaches! Our final Mini Series session with Julie from Netball WA is happening this Saturday, with this week’s focus being INTERCEPT.

We’re excited to welcome Julie from Netball WA back to Belmont Netball Association for the final session in our Mini Series! 💚🤍

This week’s focus is one requested by our coaches…

🎯 INTERCEPT

Julie will be sharing tips, techniques and practical skills to help coaches and players develop their ability to read the play, anticipate the pass and go for the intercept.

📅 THIS SATURDAY
⏰ Session 1 – 9:45am
⏰ Session 2 – 11:15am

A great opportunity for our coaches to learn from Julie so our players can put some new skills into practice on court!

BONUS FOR COACHES:
We know some coaches are also keen to learn more about rebound positioning of the defender over the shot.

While this won’t be part of the formal session, Julie is happy to run through this with interested coaches between the scheduled sessions.

👉 Coaches wanting to take advantage of this should bring 2 players – 1 shooter and 1 defender – so Julie can demonstrate the positioning in a practical setting.

It’s more than what happens between the goal lines. A great game-day environment is created by everyone - players, coaches, team managers, bench personnel, parents and spectators.

Over the coming weeks, BNA will be shining a spotlight on the different roles within our teams and exploring the expectations, responsibilities and behaviours that help make netball a positive experience for everyone.

🏐 First up: THE PLAYER

Then we’ll turn our attention to the other important roles that help make every game run smoothly:

Because every person around the court contributes to the game-day experience.

When everyone understands their role, respects the role of others and works together, we create a better environment for our players, officials, coaches and clubs.

And various mysterious items that we’re not even sure belong to anyone anymore. 👀

- Minimum strong C Badge
- Held current badge for a minimum of 2 years

Please don’t expect teams to be paying for your flights and accommodation and umpiring payment 😔

🏐 DETECT & CORRECT WITH NETBALL WA🏐

A few weeks ago, Belmont Netball Association was lucky enough to have Julie from Netball WA join us for a fantastic Detect & Correct workshop for our coaches.

It was a great opportunity for our coaches to learn, develop their skills and take away some practical ideas to use with their teams. 🙌

A huge THANK YOU, Julie, for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us — and for putting our players through their paces! 😂

And of course, a massive thank you to our Belmont Association 14s team, who volunteered to be Julie's guinea pigs for the evening. 💚🤍

They worked incredibly hard, gave everything they had and were certainly put through their paces. We're pretty sure they would have been*exhausted by the end of the session! 😅💪

We really appreciate our players getting involved and helping provide these learning opportunities for our coaches.
