Big day at 500 yards today at Belmont with a few enjoying some great hits. Well done Peter Camm who topped TRA - only one of three who scored double possibles! Sharona Muxlow with a 103.10 in TRB had a great hitout while Chris Kerr just missed the 100 by 1 in TRC.

John Preece gave it his all and was rewarded with a 126.12 in FSA while Karen Kelly continues to impress in FSB - only dropping 3. Phillip Barton scored his first double possible to take F OPEN with a 126.11! Great job.

Josef Ekkerd might still have dreams of his Bisley trip, but he did enough to take F/TR on centres from clubmate Robert Brown with Andrew McKillop in third.

Lucas Szmeja continues his King's form with a bit 105.17 to take SPC on centres from Megan Davertn and Jasmin Ellenberger. Jamie Montague also showing he's one to beat in 2026 with a 105.17 to take SPCO ahead of clubmate Jeremy Sum while Natives stalwarts were right there with double possibles.

Great to see so many of our ladies in a jacket today giving TR a go - some for the first time (definitely not their last), while others continue their comebacks into the sport. It was all smiles - and plenty of great hits along the way.

Awesome job Sharona with a 103,10 to top TRB - would have been a very tidy score in TRA!

Big day at Barcaldine as day 1 saw 4 ranges: 600. 600, 500, 500 yards. Of course, the wind decided the winners - it's Barcaldine of course - we'd expect nothing less. Possibles have been hard earned and scores got a little better for most as the day continued.

The highs and lows of competition were done. The winners had claimed their prizes, the scores were settled and the rifles were packed away.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁? That comes from what happens after the shooting.

The tempo changes. The atmosphere shifts. The nerves give way to smiles, laughter and celebration. There’s the one that got away, the moments we’ll talk about for years, and the quiet satisfaction of knowing we gave it everything we had.

And then there’s the excitement of looking forward to the next one.

𝗧𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴’𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 - 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵. 🇦🇺

You make our sport rock-solid. Our volunteers are some of the best I’ve ever known. They give so much… and then somehow find a little more. They don’t simply finish when the last shot is fired. The work continues long after we’ve left the range, preparing, organising and making sure everything is ready for the next day.

They are there before we arrive, while we compete and long after we’ve gone home.

𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺, 𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀.

August was massive. Five days of King's Series competition, huge numbers, big moments and plenty of memories made. But that doesn't include Pacific, Veterans, National Teams and more...

And behind it all was a support crew who quietly made the magic happen.

Now we look towards October - and one of the biggest groups we’ve seen on the Duncan Range in a long time.

The task will be even bigger. And you know what? 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. 💚

Ready to do it all again. Ready to make sure the range is prepared, the targets are ready and we can simply turn up and do what we love. Absolute superstars. ⭐

So, we wrap up the QRA King’s Series for 2026 with enormous thanks to every competitor, volunteer, official, scorer, marker, caterer, committee member, supporter and family member who helped write another chapter in our sport.

🎯 RAGLAN - THE STAGE IS SET!

Raglan will play host to the 2026 Australian Match Rifle & F-Class Long Range Championships, kicking off next week - and where most of us finish, these competitors start! 😮‍💨

With 900m, 1000m and 1100m on the agenda, every competitor will be tested as they take on the distance, conditions and the challenge that comes with shooting at the top level.

The stage is set for another awesome event, including the Queensland State Championships, before the focus turns to Teams from Friday afternoon through to Sunday.
