It’s not the kind of art that hangs in galleries. Or art you can buy to adorn the home.

But it does what all good art does.
It moves people.

I’ve got so many pieces I love, but a few of my all time favourites include:

😍Mini Mimics Mamma
😜Sweaty Post-Workout Smiles
💪🏼 Strength to Say Yes to Life

They’re hard to frame.
But they’re freaken powerful to stand in front of.

Happy Friday art lovers

This week I was reminded of a time a total stranger gave me a kind reminder...

..it was a ~7 years ago.
I was new to biz.
I had a toddler and a FIFO hubby.

That particular day I’d taken my son with me to our local cafe.
He was sitting content in the pram - sharing my food, being all cutie patootie 🥰 (he was the calm child I could take to cafes and sit relatively still with for 30mins 😬)

It was actually a beautiful moment.

Then all the to do lists start dancing round in my head and the “what the f*ck am I doing” and “what the hell do I even need to do to make this work” thinking brings on an exhausting overwhelm.

Tears 😓😓

Tears rolled down my cheeks and I was like “just finish your food and go home you fool”

A lady came up beside me.
Placed her hand gently on my shoulder.

“Be kind to yourself” she says

In true awkward me style - I laugh (like, snort laugh style) and nod. But I don’t look up.

She heads back to her table and continues brunch with her friend.

I smile at Koda and give him the last piece of my avocado toast.

Finish my coffee.
Pack up and head to the counter to pay.

“What table?” asks the waiter
“Table 12” I reply
“And table 14 please… I’m paying for those two ladies too”

I walk out with cry eyes,
but head high.

Kindness was the circuit breaker.
It quietened the thought spirals and lightened the self talk.

This week I sent a little kindness and few friendly reminders out into the universe.

I hope they fall in the hands of a Mamma who needs it, like I did that day.

Much love to our community who continue to offer kind words and kind gestures to this small business and the members in it.

I love what we're creating together.

Here’s what I wish more women understood about CARDIO❤️‍🔥 it doesn’t have to hurt to count, It matters in midlife, and the biggest win comes from going from nothing to something regular.

✅❤️ From age 45 — or age 30 if you’re Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander — ask your GP for a Heart Health Check ❤️✅

This is one of my biggest issues with health and fitness advice on social media.

We see content like “I started fasting and lost 10kg” or “I stopped using seed oils and my skin cleared up” or “3 things I’ve started doing since turning 40 that have changed my life” far too often.

Something contributing to this (IMO) is we (business owners on social media) are being told to do this to ‘grow our audience’ and ‘sell our services’. We are being told to HOOK in our audience with bold personal statements in order to ‘beat the algorithm’ - and whilst that might be true 🤷🏼‍♀️ , it can also lead to some pretty questionable health content being shared.

Yes, personal experience matters.
No, personal experiences don’t automatically become health recommendations for everyone else.

Because anecdotes aren’t the same as scientific research.

Because what makes sense for one person may make NO sense for another —> context matters.

Yes, share your experiences.
Be real and relatable.
But “This worked for me.” does NOT equal “Everyone should do this”

Red freaken flag
And f*ck the algorithm

It would make fitness more fun(ny), that’s for sure.

Love kids at our workouts - they come up with the best moves 😜

Sound on and stay till the end for full impact 😂

Here’s what I wish more women understood about MUSCLE POWER 💪🏼
It matters immensely, it declines as we age, and it’s trainable in ‘gentler’ ways than you might think.

I LOL’d this morning whilst reading a fab email from Dr Niamh Leonard | Peri/Menopause GP Midlife Health & Longevity - she was debunking an online trend doing the rounds warning of the dangers of mixing certain fruits in smoothies and she did it with a dash of humour (my fav)

Reminded me how bloody annoying this platform can be. How spreading misinfo is easier than spreading quality info on here. Cause the algorithm helps feed that ‘click baiting beast’.

Stay safe, curious and critical out there kids 👊🏼 I’ve got a blog article about red flags to watch out for in the fitness space if you wanna refresher - comment FLAG below and I’ll send it your way. (As in me, not a bot. I don’t have a bot.)

Also…
eat ya fruit.
