As a parent or carer it is YOUR role to actively supervise your children when in the water.
What is Active Supervision at public pools?
β
Be Prepared: Ensure you have everything you need before getting into the water, such as towels and dry clothes.
π¨π½βπ§π½ Be Close: Always be within arms' reach of your child under 5 years and with visual contact for children aged 6 β 10 years.
π΅ All of Your Attention: Focus all of your attention on your child and get into the pool and talk and play with them. Minimise distractions such as mobile phones and chatting to other parents.
π All of the Time: You should never leave your child alone in the water, nor should they be left in the care of an older child or with the assumption that your responsibility diminishes due to the presence of lifeguards.
Focus all of your attention, at all times, on your child when around water.

Farewell, Sarah ππ»
This week we say goodbye to Sarah, who finishes up with us on Friday.
For the past 3.5 years, Sarah has been a familiar and much-loved face around the Centre, starting her journey as a Swim Instructor before stepping into the role of Aquatic Services Coordinator.
Sarah has made the exciting and difficult decision to take on a new career path in a different industry β one that will give her more time with her family. π§‘
While weβre incredibly sad to see Sarah go, weβre so grateful for everything she has contributed to our Centre, our Swim School and our community.
We wish Sarah all the very best for this next chapter and know sheβll be missed by so many! π

Constant active supervision is required for ALL children.
Parents and carers must be prepared to enter the water and maintain constant visual contact for all children under 14 years.
Remember to minimise distractions and always be prepared to enter the water.

SWIMWEAR SAFETYππ This is a great safety guide for children swimming in a pool or even a lake. The colour of their bathing suit can make it easier or more difficult to see children when swimming. This is a good reminder to always have an adult supervision. Keep watch and keep our children safe!

Hey GOswim families! π If youβre unable to make it to your lesson, please mark your child absent in the Active World app β it helps us keep things running smoothly and lets you book a makeup class! π
Quick steps to do it right:
1. Go to your schedule in the app π
2. Mark absent at least an hour before your class starts β° (the earlier, the better!)
3. Book your makeup class (youβve got the next 7 days to do this!) π
Super easy and means your swimmer doesnβt miss out on a make up lesson! π If you need any help, just chat to our friendly team at reception or give us a call.
Letβs keep those swimming skills building β see you in the pool soon! πββοΈβ¨

Many water hazards at home can be easy to overlook. To help keep children safe around everyday water:
σ ―β’σ σ Stay within armβs reach during bath time
σ ―β’σ σ Empty containers, buckets and paddling pools after use
σ ―β’σ σ Keep doors, gates and barriers secured
σ ―β’σ σ Build simple water awareness as children grow
Safer homes help create safer swimmers.
