Classical Pilates Studio - Bathurst. Pilates in its truest form.

Who knew that to stand out amongst all the fluff, you just had to be original?

Pilates has been reinvented, reimagined, modernised, fused, adapted and repackaged in more ways than we can count.

Meanwhile, over here at Precision Pilates, we're doing something rather radical.

We're not changing it.

We teach Contrology.... the original system developed by Joseph Pilates and passed down through generations of teachers.

The Mat. The Reformer. The Cadillac. The Chairs. The Barrels. The small apparatus.

Not a collection of separate workouts, but parts of one complete, interconnected system.

And while we love our beautiful, authentic classical apparatus, the equipment is ultimately a tool. Classical equipment doesn't define the method being taught on it.

It's the system. The teaching. The lineage.

My own teaching comes through a direct lineage to Joe Pilates, and that lineage continues to shape what and how I teach today.

Perhaps the most radical thing you can do in an industry constantly reinventing itself is simply not reinvent it at all.

Precision Pilates does one thing. Contrology.

No reinvention required.

What's the difference?

If you've only ever experienced Pilates in a gym or large reformer class, you may never have experienced the original method.

At Precision Pilates, we're proud to be Bathurst's only Classical Pilates studio, teaching the authentic method developed by Joseph Pilates.

But here's what really matters...

Pilates isn't about becoming more athletic.
It's about moving well for life.

For our clients, that might mean:
✓ keeping up with children and grandchildren
✓ feeling strong and supported during and after pregnancy
✓ moving with confidence through midlife and beyond
✓ getting out of the garden without aching
✓ getting back to the sports and activities you love
✓ enjoying travel, walking and sport without feeling held back
✓ feeling stronger, steadier and more confident every day

Our small group sessions (maximum four people) mean you'll receive individual guidance every step of the way, whether you're completely new to Pilates or have years of experience.

If you've ever wondered what Pilates was originally designed to feel like, we'd love to show you.

⭐ The position of the head influences the position of the entire body. ⭐

The Neck Stretcher is one of Joseph Pilates' original small pieces of apparatus, designed to encourage proper cervical alignment and restore balanced posture.

Long before forward head posture and "tech neck" became everyday concerns, Joe recognised the importance of the head and neck in supporting efficient movement throughout the entire body. The Neck Stretcher provides gentle feedback, encouraging length through the cervical spine while helping the body reconnect with its natural alignment.

Despite its simple appearance, this is not a piece of apparatus for beginners. Although fitted with only a small spring, it provides surprisingly strong feedback. To use it safely and effectively, students must already understand how to connect the back muscles and create length through the spine, rather than placing unnecessary load on the cervical spine.

For generations, the Neck Stretcher has remained part of the Classical Pilates system, helping students develop better posture, improved alignment, greater balance and a deeper connection to their bodies.

Like so many of Joseph Pilates' inventions, the lessons learned on the Neck Stretcher extend far beyond the apparatus itself. It challenges the body to work as an integrated whole, developing strength, control, coordination and awareness from head to toe.

At Precision Pilates, we use an original Gratz Neck Stretcher, manufactured from Joseph Pilates' original designs. Every curve, contour and dimension has been carefully preserved, providing the precise feedback that allows the apparatus to teach the work rather than simply support it.

In Classical Pilates, we don't change the work to suit the apparatus....we preserve the apparatus so it can teach the work.

Sometimes the simplest pieces of apparatus offer the greatest lessons.

In 1926, Joseph Pilates introduced Contrology.

A full century later, the method continues to do exactly what it was designed to do.

Stronger bodies.
Better movement.
Timeless principles.

The originals become classics for a reason.

In 1905, Albert Einstein published his Theory of Relativity.

More than 120 years later, it hasn't become less true because it's older.

The age of an idea doesn't determine its value.

The best ideas stand the test of time.

More than 5,500 years after it was invented, the wheel is still doing exactly what it was designed to do.

We don't replace great ideas simply because they're old.

They endure because they work.

Perhaps the same can be said for other enduring inventions...

⭐ Some of the smallest pieces of apparatus can make the biggest difference. ⭐

The Toe Corrector is one of Joseph Pilates' original small pieces of apparatus. Designed as a highly portable companion to the Foot Corrector, it was created to target the smaller muscles, joints and ligaments of the toes that the larger apparatus couldn't isolate.

Deceptively simple in appearance, the Toe Corrector consists of two toe loops connected by a central spring. As the toes spread apart against the resistance, the spring opens and the diamond-shaped linkage flattens, providing precise feedback while strengthening the feet from the ground up.

Often affectionately referred to within the Classical Pilates community as one of "Joe's Gizmos," the Toe Corrector reminds us that every part of the body deserves attention...even the smallest! After all, our feet are the foundation for everything we do.

At Precision Pilates, we use Gratz Toe Correctors, manufactured from Joseph Pilates' original designs. Like all of the original apparatus, every curve, spring and dimension has a purpose, providing feedback that helps teach the work rather than simply adding resistance.

In Contrology, we don't change the work to suit the equipment...we preserve the equipment so it can teach the work.
Sometimes the smallest pieces of apparatus teach the biggest lessons.

⭐ Not all Pilates rings are created equal. ⭐

The Magic Circle is one of the original pieces of equipment developed by Joseph Pilates. Simple in appearance, yet incredibly effective, it provides immediate feedback, challenges control rather than force, and encourages connection throughout the entire body.

Over the years, countless versions have appeared, each with their own modifications. But not all rings offer the same experience.
At Precision Pilates, we don't use just any old ring. Our 4-band metal Contrology Spring Circles are built from Joseph Pilates' original specifications, preserving the weight, tension and feel of the apparatus as it was intended. That authenticity matters. The equipment teaches, guides and asks something different of the body.

In Classical Pilates, we don't change the work to suit the equipment....we preserve the equipment so it can teach the work.
Sometimes the simplest apparatus teaches us the most.

The Contrology Collection. Preserving the original work. One piece of apparatus at a time.
