‼️ BIG news for the Seahawks family today, and it's about someone who deserves every bit of it.

Karen Green has been named one of the Top 8 finalists in Bunnings' 2026 Legend of the Tongs - a national campaign honouring the volunteers who are the absolute lifeblood of community footy. Out of hundreds of nominations from clubs right across the country, Karen made the cut. Eight finalists, and one of them is ours. 👏👏🙌🙌🙌

If you've ever been to Hanging Rock on game day, chances are Karen was behind the canteen — rain, hail, shine, freezing cold Saturday and Sunday mornings, all of it. She's the one who shows up early, stays late, and does it all without ever asking for a thank you. That's exactly the kind of volunteer this award was built to recognise, and honestly, we can't think of anyone more deserving. 🙏🦅

As a finalist, Karen's now heading to the AFL Footy Festival and the Toyota AFL Grand Final, where she'll cook alongside AFL great Matthew Richardson and go head-to-head for the title of Legend of the Golden Tongs - plus a $25,000 Bunnings prize that would go straight back into our club. 👏👏

Clubs like ours don't run on funding and fixtures alone - they run on people like Karen. This is a huge moment for her, and just as huge for everyone at Batemans Bay Seahawks.

‼️ 2026 SEAHAWKS SENIOR AWARD WINNERS ‼️

A huge congratulations to all of our award winners from Saturday night as we celebrated what has been a massive 2026 season for the Batemans Bay Seahawks. 👏👏

A special congratulations to our 2026 Best & Fairest winners across our five senior grades:

First Grade Men – Jarrod Thompson
First Grade Women – Brodie White
Second Grade Men – Liam Backo
Under 18 Women – Tia Freyer
Under 18 Men – Mason Fardell

Five outstanding seasons and five very deserving winners. Congratulations also to every player who received an award on the night.

We were also incredibly proud to recognise three people who give so much to our football club with our major club awards:

Clubman of the Year – Anthony Freyer
Club Woman of the Year – Karen Green
Seahawk of the Year – Brett Pedder

These awards recognise far more than what happens on the football field. Anthony, Karen and Brett have all made enormous contributions to the Seahawks throughout 2026, and our club is better for having people like them involved. 🙌🙌🙌

Our 50th season was a huge one. We took the step into AFL Canberra Premier Division, exposed plenty of our young players to a higher level of football and saw our First Grade Women play finals in our very first season at the top level.

There were plenty of challenges along the way, but also plenty of signs of where this club is heading.

Now the work begins towards 2027. 💪

The foundations have been laid, our young group has another year of experience behind them and the challenge now is to keep building, improving and closing the gap.

Congratulations again to all of our 2026 award winners and thank you to everyone who played a part in a memorable season. 👏🙌

On Saturday night, the Seahawks came together to celebrate our 2026 season at our annual Presentation Night.

It was a fantastic night recognising the players, coaches, volunteers and people who contributed so much to the club throughout a huge year. 🙌🙏

‼️2027 SIGNINGS - SENIOR MEN‼️

Two important leaders in our Senior Men’s program are locked in for 2027, with Michael Thane and Liam Backo signing back on for another season! 🦅

Both Thaney and Backo will be key cogs in our Senior Men’s program across both grades, bringing plenty of experience and leadership while helping guide the next crop of young Seahawks coming through. 🙌👏
