Set The Standard 14/08/2026

Community sport has the power to bring people together.

It builds confidence, creates connection and helps people feel like they belong. But for too many people, experiences of racism and exclusion mean those benefits arenโ€™t shared equally.

Community sport should be a place where everyone feels welcome. Yet research found that 56% of survey respondents had experienced or witnessed racism in community sport, with 75% of those incidents occurring within the past 12 months.

Thatโ€™s why VicHealth developed Set The Standard.

Set The Standard aims to connect coaches and club leaders across Victoria to practical tools, free resources, and provide access to subsidised anti-racism training to help build healthier, more welcoming, and culturally safe sporting environments.

Because when people feel safe, respected, and valued, everyone benefits.
