🌟🌟Good evening Brown Hill Auskick families, we have some great news to share!🌟🌟

Coach Couz isn’t just an Auskick guru, among other things he also coaches The Geelong College’s Firsts Girls XVIII Football Team, and on Saturday they won their first flag! 🏆

The Geelong College 6. 5 (41) def Caulfield Grammar 6. 2 (38)

Caulfield Grammar is a football powerhouse, dominating the competition since girls’ football was added to the AGSV/APS Sport programme in 2019, winning every grand final and remaining undefeated 2021 - 2025. Make no mistake, this win by The Geelong College is HUGE!

I’m sure you’ll join us in extending a big congratulations to Coach Couz and his team on this historic achievement.

Have a read of the Geelong Advertiser article below, does any of it sound familiar? 🤭

But it has been a focus on culture set by head coach James Couzens, an experienced girls’ football coach
from Ballarat, that has provided opportunities to those outside the talent pathway to play key roles as well.

"It's fostering an environment to learn, no matter your abilities," [Nathan] Brown said.
"He's (Couzens) been a big
driver in that over the last two years.

"The biggest strength of our team is our depth and our all-roundedness."
Brown said Couzens - affectionately known as "Cuz" to his players - was famous for his booming voice and motivational methods.

"You know Cuz, he has a bit of a reputation around the APS - he's very loud,” Brown said. "But super constructive and positive, and consistently inspirational.

"His halftime addresses to the group, they’re inspiring and motivational, they're brilliant. He’ll be in full flight on Saturday, no doubt.”

Geelong Advertiser, Saturday 8 August 2026.

Oh what a night!

Almost our full list of kids, energy high and a huge crowd of supporters - what a way to wind up season 2026!

Our deepest gratitude to James ‘Coach Couz’ Couzens for being an excellent human, and conducting the best band of young people in town. Ryan, Ben, Ed, Will, Sam & Oscar show up and pour positivity into the kids every week. See the video of Couz’s thanks to them in the comments, and feel very free to leave your own message of love and appreciation for these guys.

Behind the scenes it’s Phil from Brown Hill Cricket Club who gets Brown Hill Auskick off the ground each year, and keeps the lights on - literally. On the BBQ he’s ably supported by John, Rex, Brendan, Bernie and all from the Brown Hill Progress Association.

Thanks to Brendan and his players from North Ballarat Football & Netball Club for supporting us on field this year. If your young ones are looking to join a club and play in a team send us a message and we’ll connect you.

And finally, thank you to all our families for choosing Brown Hill Auskick for your young ones. We hope their enjoyment of footy continues for years to come, and remember, Coach Couz said you can kick those soft footies in the house! 😅
