Saturday Stableford results
Another beautiful day was enjoyed by some 31 players whom competed in our last Stableford round of the 2026 Winter Season & it was no other than Dave Brice who conquered the blustery conditions best, winning the B Grade and signing for a best score of the day, a whopping 40 points. Second in the small B Grade field was newcomer Jake Marzocca with a solid 35 points.
In A Grade it was Brayden Harkness topping the podium with 35, 2nd went the way of Kelly Curnow 33, leaving Ian Boots to take 3rd with 32.
The C Grade was again dominated by Austin Henstridge after his impressive 39 points, just ahead of another new member, Jack Orchison 38, with Carolyn Mutton taking 3rd on a count back (From Roger Hahn) after a solid 36 points.
NTP winners were Ian on 3, Chester Newbold on 8 with Mark Loy hitting 2 good shots for the day, luckily on numbers 10 & 15. 2nd shot wins went the way of Jack on 9 & Craig McKnight on 13.
Lots of birdies were enjoyed by DB on 3, Brayden on 16, Jake on 17, Kelly Curnow on both 4 & 6, Ian on 5, Muzz on 16, Louise Michael on 8, Scott Michael on 18, Brian Tiller on 6 & 12, Adrian Ward on 3, Scott Davey on 15, Chester on 8, Jack on 14 & 16, with Dave Coulter getting his on 6.
The birdie wheel was spun, with no winner noted, we look to start rebuilding the Jackpot.
Congratulations to young gun Gus Lemon, who defeated the young at heart Ian Jenkin 3 & 2 to claim the C Grade Winter Shield final. Great to see Rosemary Jenkin on hand to give son Ian some tips & encouragement, but was heard to make the comment later that she “wasn’t angry, just disappointed” in her son.
Be aware that this Saturday 26th, there is no programmed competition running, but we will be having our end of season presentation day, in the way of a 4BBB Stableford event to be held the following day, Sunday 27th September, with a sh***un start at 9am sharp, with a meal & presentations to take part after play. Everyone welcome.
Don’t forget that our Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday the 21st of September at the clubhouse commencing at 7.30pm. A special meeting will be held prior to the AGM to address items concerning constitution changes. We strongly encourage members to attend the AGM to look back on the progress made over the last 12 months, understand challenges facing our club and help shape the future of our club.

Also, we are now looking for teams to get involved in our upcoming Rock-tober 4 Person Ambrose, to be held on Sunday 4th October. With a relaxed LIV golf like theme, with lots of prizes & a sausage sizzle included, this is sure to be a fun day for all abilities. (No handicap required)

Looking for something relaxing to do on a Friday night? Want to do something different with the kids at the end of school holidays, or perhaps have a session before harvest kicks in?
Head out to Balaklava Golf Club for 'Drinks on the Deck' on Friday, October 9, from 5-30pm. Pizzas will be available to buy for tea and the bar will be open (NO BYO).
Check out our magnificent course and maybe have a few swings or putts!

The Mid North Veterans hosted the Northern YP Vets today at Balaklava, with the Mid North crew taking out the win!
This was helped by a hole in one by Lew Fogden on hole 8 - well done!! (The port must have helped!!)
Well done to former MN and now YP's Dave Smart who had the score of the day, 42 points, with another YP Alan Penglase second on 41, then two MN vets Dave Brice and Austin Henstridge on 40, followed by Christine Hahesy and Ivan Gray 38, then all on 37 were Lew Fogden, Gilbert Davis and Bruce Reichstein. Well done everyone, and thanks to the Balaklava helpers for organising food, manning the bar, and presenting the course in such a fantastic condition.

Results from Saturday 12th September.

Spring has officially sprung with 25 participants greeted by warm conditions as they competed in a god old fashioned stroke event. The A grade was won via a count back, as Louise Michael 85/72, nudged Chris Marshall into 2nd 84/72. Seemingly content with 3rd was Bryn Jones with 86/75.
In the B Grade it was none other than Dave Brice who took to the top of the podium, after signing for score of the day 87/70, 2nd went to ‘The Pres’ Paul Thompson 87/72, with Mike Smith in tow after a solid 92/74.
The C Grade was again taken out by the ever-improving Richard Campbell recording 103/70, with 2nd place getter Carolyn Mutton looking refreshed after her trip north, with an impressive 96/71, with Kate Green just one back after her 100/72.
NTP wins went the way of Davo on both 3 & 10, with Austin closest on 8, leaving Matt Hoepner to get really close on 15. 2nd shot winners were crowned, with Mike best on 9 & Foggy nearest on 13. Lots of birdies were had by Jake Michael & Carolyn on 3, Bryn on 5, Roger Hahn on 7, Mike on 9, Jake Marzocca on 14 & Richard Maxwell on 16.
Multiple birdies were had by Matt on 14 & 15 while Foggy not only had 3 of his own on 8, 13 & 16, but his number also came up on the birdie spin after play, when number 8 found its way to the top of the wheel.
This week we have scheduled in a Stableford round, with Dave Coulter taking charge of starter duties with help from Louise at the bar, before Ben Michael makes a guest appearance in the afternoon.

To all golfers - the course will be closed on Monday from 9-30am until 2pm due to a visit by some (male and female) Veteran golfers. If you are a veteran, you might like to consider joining one of the local Veteran golfer groups (eg Mid North Golf), giving you the chance to meet other golfers and play numerous courses around the Mid North and beyond! You can join, regardless of your golfing ability! See us a message if you're keen to know more!
