Whilst we were cheering Ashlyn and Edith on at the Burdekin Water Festival Ambassador Presentation Long Lunch, a small but mighty contingent were in Cairns competing in the Tartan Day Highland Comp.

A huge thank you to the mums for keeping me updated and doing a first class job as team coaches for the morning!!

One of our favourite nights of the year 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Bagpipes and Beers 🍻 with the pipers and drummers from the RSL Memorial Pipes & Drums Townsville and the Lower Burdekin Caledonian Pipe Band. Fantastic opportunity to dance to a pipe band 😍 and great to catch up with the crew and dance like no one was watching 🫣😂

Our homegrown comp ⚔️
🦄 3 new little Primary’s competed for the first time
🦄 new dances and steps debuted
🦄 3 dancers received their 6th notch
🦄 two retired dancers came out of retirement and competed again - and took some prizes home!

A fab day spent with our dancing friends and family 🥰

Finishing off a busy month with our favourite pipers and drummers for a few Pas de Basques and Pints 🍻⚔️

Gather your Clan and head to the Club for the annual "Bagpipes & Beers" night....from 6:00pm Saturday 1 August 2026. A great night of family fun and entertainment!!

Recently 7 very brave lassies signed up to learn a little Highland dancing as part of the Burdekin Shire Council’s 8 week Get Out Get Active initiative.

My goal for the participants was to get them to the stage where, if they heard a bagpiper, they’d be able to do a dance good enough for someone to recognise they were Highland Dancing!

We learnt a little of the Highland Fling, a little of the Sword Dance, a little of the Seann Truibhas and a little of the Village Maid. And then we threw it all together to the song, Whisky in the Jar (the Scottish version).

I had a lot of fun, and I was so impressed with their tenacity 🤩 thank you ladies for choosing Highland Dancing 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We have a new little studio mascot ♥️ After many suggestions, much deliberation and a studio vote - we introduce Flora Sparkles MacSwan ♥️ and just like her namesake, she travelled a long way from her birthplace to her forever home on the opposite side of Australia ✈️ thank you to the The Arty Lambkin for our gorgeous Flora
