1st Avoca Beach Scout Group

Term 2 planning is well underway with an exciting mix of activities covering all 4 challenge areas - Outdoor, Creative, Personal Growth, and Community. There will be nights based on ANZAC Day, Mothers Day, a night hike, astronomy, science, first aid, campfire, games, world ocean day, first aid practice and more. Along with todays clean up, we also learned all things recycling and rubbish disposal at Joeys and Cubs this week. Thanks to 1Coast for running interactive activities for our youth members, including a giant cleanup around our hall. We learned the right bins for different rubbish types and great alternative options.

A great morning supporting our local clean up Australia Day efforts. Thanks to Plastic Free Avoca Beach for organising. Coast Point Baptist Church for the delicious breakfast and Aquafun Avoca Lake for use of your equipment.

If you've ever wondered what we do at Scouts, or are just looking for something fun to do this Saturday, come join us for our open day 9am-11am. There will be canoeing, games and fun.

For the last few weeks our group has been selling Jolly Soles socks to raise money for We Care Connects Christmas gifting appeal. Last night some of our Cubs went shopping to buy over $1000 worth of presents to donate. The Cubs selected presents for the age group most requested 0-2 and teenagers so they really had to think about what might be suitable. The Cubs learned about staying to a budget, cost vs value and working together. Thanks to Like Minds Avoca and Erina Heights Public School P&C for letting us sell socks at your events. Socks for Christmas. In December, our Cubs will shop for Christmas gifts to donate to We Care Connect to distribute. They are selling socks for $8 per pair to help fund their shopping trip. There are plenty of designs available and sizes to fit the whole family. Contact us to make your order, or find us at the farmers market at Like Minds Avoca in the coming weeks.

Happy Halloween. Our Group got a little spooky this week with ghoulish games, craft and science. Thanks to Broken Bay Scout Group for hosting the Halloween Disco for our Cubs. We loved making new friends.
