Water alone wont help dehydration, use supplements like Hydralyte, LIQUID IV, powerade, gatorade to replenish hydration.

STORY TIME πŸ“–

When I arrived in Australia, it was tough to find my friendship circle. I always knew rugby was my passion and that I would find people that shared something in common. So I decided to look for a club....

I met a guy at the gym one day and he asked if I was keen to play footy. His club were current back 2 back champs and they were looking for a 3 peat that year. I was keen so I went to training πŸ‰

This would be my first rugby club in QLD back in 2019. Everton Park Roosters πŸ“

Unfortunately, we didnt win the 3 peat πŸ₯²

The same year I was selected to represent Queensland and Niue Rugby (International tour to PNG), but sadly withdrew due to the birth of my son.

Always greatful for the friendships that rugby gave and the "What could have beens" that would have unfolded.

Missed out on going to the big dance this year πŸ˜ͺ but what a season we had. Awesome bunch of boys ready to rock n roll next year.

As a youth athlete, are you setting goals?
Are you holding yourself accountable to achieve these goals? Or are they in your head awaiting ACTION?

Today my seniors set mini, gym related goals that they can achieve over the last 8 weeks of term. I asked them to reflect on the year and their weaknesses that need work and strengths that need enhancing.

Once they have their mini-goals (maximum 3) they can start to choose exercises that relate to those goals that will help them in their sport for next year - each week their goals will be on the board to remind them, or if they get complacent or lazy their post it notes that THEY WROTE will keep them accountable. At the end of the term, we will reflect again and see if they achieved their goal / goals. (Why not, what happened, what can you do better etc etc).

If your stuck setting goals and holding yourself accountable, write them on a post it note and stick it in your room, your bathroom, your school folder to REMIND YOU to stay on track!

Goodluck for the rest of the term youngsters!

Playing footy at an older age than most has its challenges. For me it was trying to keep up with the young bucks and do everything possible to play well. I felt my body was the best its ever been with all the gym work I've done, but the speed and physicality has changed slightly.

As I got older, I started to realise the power of writing mental notes, mini goals that would help sink into my subconscious mind. Notes that I could read everyday so that mentally I know what areas to stay dialed in to, so that I can stay on top of my game, play well and dominate.

I wrote these notes to keep me focused on my role, my position first before anything so that as a team we operate smoothly if everyone focused on their jobs.

Some of the GOATS in all sports use this technique, and it definitely works. For me, it was enough to get selected into the QLD Team and I was probably the oldest bloke there πŸ˜… that in itself is a true testament that if your subconscious mind believes it can be done, it can be done.
