🥊 Kickboxing Sparring Night! 🥊
A fantastic night of learning, challenging ourselves, and building confidence on the mats!
A huge thank you to everyone who stepped up to spar, supported their teammates, and brought such a respectful attitude. Nights like these are all about improving our skills, gaining valuable experience, and helping each other grow.
Whether it was your first spar or your fiftieth, every round was an opportunity to learn. We’re proud of the effort, sportsmanship, and determination shown by everyone involved.
Thank you to all of our coaches, volunteers, and supporters for making the night such a success.
See you all back in class next week—let’s keep improving! 💪🥊

Control before power!🥋

If you cannot control your kick or stay balanced, you will not strike accurately. You also risk landing in a position that leaves you completely exposed to a counterattack.

That is why in our beginners class we focused heavily on the fundamentals.
Form First: Mastering the movement without any extra speed.
Perfect Balance: Finding a stable base before throwing the strike.
Safe Landing: Ensuring you recover in a strong, protected stance.

The speed and power will follow naturally once the foundation is solid. Great work by everyone on the mats for this session! 🥋🥊

💥Why Wednesday - JMA Values: Mentorship🥋

At JMA Martial Arts, we believe that learning is stronger when we learn together.

Mentorship is a big part of what we do. Our coaches don’t just teach kicks, punches, and self-defence-they guide, support, and encourage students to become the best versions of themselves both on and off the mats.⭐️

🥋Through our Leadership Program, senior students learn how to become role models and mentors for younger students. They develop valuable skills such as communication, patience, leadership, and responsibility, with the goal of one day progressing into coaching roles themselves.

We also encourage all students to support one another during training. Whether it’s helping a teammate learn a technique, offering encouragement during a challenging class, or leading by example, mentorship helps create a positive and welcoming environment where everyone can grow.🔥

Great martial artists don’t just focus on their own success, they help others succeed too.

Learn🧠. Lead💪. Inspire✨.

💥Technique Tuesday: The Weave (Roll)🥋

This week we’re focusing on the weave in the boxing combination: Jab → Cross → Weave → Cross
→ Hook → Cross.🥊

A common mistake is making a V shape by going diagonally straight into the punch rather than down and underneath.
Instead, the weave should be a U-shaped movement. Drop straight down by bending your knees, twist your feet and hips, pull your shoulder through, and then come back up on the other side.

Remember, a weave should be a small, controlled movement, not a big one. Large movements take longer, use more energy, and can leave you out of position for your next strike.👊

Stay balanced, stay protected, and let your footwork do the work!🔥

💥Motivational Monday🥋

“Strength comes in moments when you think you can’t go on, but keep going anyway”

True strength isn’t just about powerful kicks or fast punches-it’s about perseverance.🔥🥋

In training, there are moments when you’re tired, when a technique feels difficult, or when you feel like giving up. But it’s in those moments that real growth happens. Every time you push through, give that little bit extra, and keep going, you become stronger than you were yesterday.

At JMA, we teach our students that challenges aren’t something to avoid, they’re opportunities to grow. We encourage our students to stay resilient, trust the prosess, and keep moving forward, even when things get tough.👊

Because strength isn’t measured by how easy the journey is, it’s measured by your ability to keep going when it isn’t.⚔️

Keep showing up. Keep pushing forward. You’ve got more strength than you think!💙

🔴RED TAG TRAINING IN ACTION!🥋

Our White, Yellow, and Orange Belt Little Tigers have been working hard on their kicking skills as they prepare for their Red Tags!

Balance is a key part of every kick. By learning to stay strong and stable on one leg, students develop better control, more powerful kicks, and greater confidence in their techniques.

These students are just starting their martial arts journey and are already impressing their coaches with their awesome kicks, focus, and determination in every class!

These little legends have been putting in the effort and showing fantastic balance as they continue to develop their skills. 🐯🥋

Keep up the great work, Tigers, we can’t wait to see you earn those Red Tags!🔴🔥

🔥Senior Belts Chasing Their Red Tags! 🔴

Our senior belts are now working hard on their Jump Reverse Kicks as they progress towards their red tags.

To help build strong technique, we’ve been breaking the kick down into three key steps:
1️⃣Kick and land in a reverse guard position - shoulders turned, eyes on the target, and toes facing
away from the target.

2️⃣Slide the non-kicking leg through and hold the position -balancing with the foot on the floor
facing towards the target.

3️⃣Jump, switch legs, and turn the shoulders over to bring the kicking leg across - finishing with
the supporting foot facing away from the target.

By breaking complex techniques into smaller steps, students can develop better balance, coordination, and power while building confidence in their skills.🥋

The hard work and dedication from our senior belts has been fantastic to see. Keep training hard - hopefully we’ll be seeing lots of red tags on belts very soon!🔥👊

Well done, Senior Belts!

🔥Why Wednesday - JMA Values: Respect🥋

Respect is one of the most important values we teach at JMA Martial Arts. It’s the foundation of a positive learning environment and helps students grow into confident, responsible individuals.👊

At JMA, we show respect by:
⭐️Bowing when entering and exiting the mats
⭐️Bowing to our coaches and training partners
⭐️Standing tall, attentive, and ready to learn
⭐️Listening carefully and following instructions
⭐️Using clear, positive communication
⭐️Wearing a clean and tidy uniform
⭐️Giving our best effort in every class

Respect isn’t just about good manners-it’s about showing appreciation for ourselves, our coaches, our teammates, and the martial arts we practise.🙌

The respect we learn on the mats carries into everyday life, helping students build stronger relationships at home, at school, and in their community.🥋

Respect yourself. Respect others. Respect the journey.💙🥋

💥Motivational Monday🥋

“Success is built on the days you don’t feel like showing up”

Anyone can train when they’re feeling motivated, energetic, and ready to go. The real growth happens on the days when you’re tired, it’s been a long day, and you’d rather stay home-but you show up anyway.👊

In Taekwondo, every class attended, every kick thrown, and every challenge overcome adds up over time. Those small moments of discipline are what lead to new belts, greater confidence, and achieving goals that once seemed impossible.💥

At JMA, we celebrate the students who keep turning up, keep trying, and keep pushing themselves forward, even when it’s not easy. That’s where champions are made.🥋🔥

Keep showing up. Keep improving. Your future self will thank you for it!

💪Strong bodies. Strong minds!👊

Push-ups are an important part of our training at JMA. They help build the strength needed for punching, blocking, and overall martial arts performance.🥋

As students progress through the belt ranks, they earn the challenge of 5 extra push-ups at each level. It’s not just about getting physically stronger-it’s about developing the mental strength to keep going when things get tough.🔥

The best part? What once seemed impossible soon becomes easy through consistent practice. Our students learn that with hard work and determination, they are capable of achieving far more than they first thought.💪

Every push-up is a reminder that growth comes from effort, perseverance, and never giving up!👊
