We are Back Home Sunday for our big clash against The Tweed Heads Osprey. Game starts at 10.30, Hot Rolls from the Bistro at 11.30 and the green will be burning with the fire power in both teams. Allstars Spearheaded by Lee Schraner, Peter Taylor, Cohen Litfin, Glen Pitts, Cam Keenan and NZ's Gun Aiden Takarua while the Osprey have Gary Kelly, Commonwealth Gold Medalist at this year's Comm Games, Cory Wedlock, Ross Owen, Wayne Turley, Irish International Adam McKewon. Going to be a ripper of a game.

Weekend Pennants saw wins to our Division 2, 5 & 6’s teams. There’s still 7 rounds remaining as we look to make it into the top three spots in all grades come finals time.

Social Wednesday Bowls Winners with 2 wins plus 39 was Gary Detterick & Wayne Molloy, Winners of the Losers was Rip Curtis & Ken Chandler. The jackpot didn’t go off and stands at $48 plus the field this Wednesday.

Thursday Scroungers saw 43 players battling it out with Doug Crocker winning the day with 69 points, in second was Warren Manktelow with 66 points and third was Gavin McDonald with 63 points.

Heather Bailey & Debbie Logan finished in 6th place at the Broadbeach Ladies Prestige Pairs, congratulations ladies.

Thomas Bremer although not making it through to the finals of the Junior Nugget played very well and we wish Thomas all the best when he heads off in a couple of weeks to Cabramatta for the Under 18 Test Series against NSW & Victoria.

Our Premier League Squad of 16 for 2026 have been named with this year’s squad being spearheaded with Current Australian Player Lee Schraner, Victorian Rep Cam Keenan, World Bowls Mens Singles Silver Medalist Aidan Takarua, NSW’s Representative Peter Taylor and our Local Allstars. These guys blended with our Allstars (see full team below) will be out to take out the title in 2026. Premier League Starts on Friday the 21st of August against Pine Rivers at 6pm. We then back up Saturday night for our clash with the Kawana Thunder before being back home on Sunday for the Game against Helensvale. 11 games over 6 weeks with the finals on the 26th & 27th of September. Four Players have also been named, Paul Vardy, Caleb Bowles, Heather Bailey & Sheridan Gollan who will play Division 1 Pennants complete the 20 person squad.

We welcome our next future star to the Allstars, Isabella Hutcheon who’s 9 yrs old has joined the Allstars. Isabella comes out of our school program at St Bernadine’s Junior College. Welcome Isabella.

This week there’s lots happening with our Tuesday Club Training from 10am -12.

Thursday is Scroungers Day, who will be this weeks best draw bowler?

Thursday night Premier League training at Mt Gravatt Bowls club at 6pm.

Saturday Pennants across all 7 grades with Divisions 2 & 6 Playing at Home.

Sunday morning we host the first 2 rounds of the District Champion of Champion Mixed Pairs, Algester will be represented by Emma Rowbotham & Cohen Litfin.

Sunday Morning Social will also be on the Scout Hall Green starting at 9.30am.

What’s Happening this week ahead and what happened over the weekend. We had 3 wins, a draw and 3 loses at last weekends pennants. Wins to Division 2, 3 and 7, our Division 1 had a draw and divisions 4,5 & 6 will be looking to bounce back this weekend.

Yesterday Heather Bailey & Debbie Logan took out the United Bowls Club ladies over 60 Pairs, congratulation Ladies.

Today Chambers Pines Over 50’s Lifestyle resort played Algester at Algester over 6 rinks. After the completion of both rounds Algester wrestle the bragging rights back winning 136 shots to 96. This was a great result after losing to Chambers Pines last month on their home green.

Tomorrow 5 Allstars will be wearing the Bowls QLD Uniform as they take on NSW’s at Cabramatta Bowling Club in Sydney. In the Ladies Open Team Olivia Rothwell, Emma Rowbotham & Sheridan Gollan. In the Men’s Open side Cohen Litfin and Mav Sparkes will be playing in the 40-59 ladies side. Good Luck to our Stars over the next 2 days. Livestream can be viewed on Bowls NSW’S page.

This weekend Thomas Brehmer will be playing in the Junior Golden Nugget at Club Tweed against Australia’s best juniors. Thomas will play sectional on Saturday looking for a spot in Sundays knockout out stage. Games start at 9am. Good Bowling Thomas.

Social Bowls Tomorrow Wednesday at 9.30am followed by Scroungers on Thursday morning also at 9.30. You can place your name on the scroungers sheet tomorrow if you’re wanting to play.

Saturday completes our week with District Pennants, we have divisions 4,5 & 7 at home. Divisions 1,3 & 6 will all be away at Dara and our Division 2 side will be playing out at Ipswich in the Park. Good Bowling everyone and play well Allstars

What’s happening around the club over the next 3 days. The greens will be open Friday after 10.30am rolled and ready for roll ups and practice.
Saturday we have District Pennants with 3 sides, Division 2, 5 & 6 playing at home starting at 1pm. Divisions 1, 3,4 & 7 are playing away with Division 7 playing at 9am at Graceville.
Sunday we are hosting the District Champion of Champion Singles with Tarnea Gillis and Cohen Litfin representing Algester. Games start at 9 am and there will be 3 games with the ladies final and men’s semi finals in the afternoon.

Next Tuesday we are hosting Chambers Pines and we are looking for 1 player to fill the last vacant spot. You play 2 games and lunch with games 1 starting at 9.30am. If you would like to play please call Cohen Litfin or myself.

It is with very sad news of the passing of Jenny Bostock.
Jenny was a beloved member of Algester Bowls Club. Jenny represented the Algester Bowls Club in the inaugural State 8 A Side winning Gold, Jenny also represented Cunningham District Ladies side and was a member of the 2023 Cunningham side which won the State District Sides Championship.
On behalf of all the members at the Algester Sports Club we would like to offer it's deepest condolences to Greg and family.
Greg and Family have invited the members of the Algester Bowls Club to attend the Funeral to celebrate the life of Jenny. Your full bowling uniform can be worn to the funeral. Please see the details of the service to be held next Wednesday the 1st of July at 11am at the Beaudesert Golf Club. R.I.P Jenny.

Congratulations to Duncan Matherson and Wayne Molloy winners of the Algester Sports Club Veteran Pairs defeating Errol Richardson and Geoff Jensen in todays Final. This was the 3rd year in a Row that Wayne and Duncan have won the Veteran Pairs.

Great to see 48 members attending Pennant Training last night and 30 tonight. Awesome Allstars 🌟🌟
