Sunday 12th July. Starts 10.00 - 11.00am.
Start: Padman Park at corner of Day Street and Padman Drive, Albury (opposite Frankies)
Training: Street and Park orienteering. IDEAL FOR BEGINNERS. You take a map and find as many controls as you can in 60 minutes by navigating through the streets and parks of West Albury everywhere from Monument Hill to the Riverside.
Entry: No fee for 'training events'. You can come along and enter on the day.
Coffee: Coffee afterwards on Frankies veranda.
GOOMBARGAMA Near Rand - AWOC v Waggaroos Interclub Challenge #5
Sunday 26th July. Starts 10.00 - 11.00am.
Courses: 5 courses (3 hard, a moderate and an easy) with differing length to suit all levels of fitness and orienteering experience.
Terrain: A combination of relatively open hillside on the Easy and Moderate courses Street and complex forest with large boulders on the Hard courses.

RESULTS: Beechworth Gorge Event - 4 July 2026.
Old mates Rob Preston from Central Highlands Orienteering Club and AWOCer Tim Boote organised and excellent event starting at the Powder Magazine in and taking 99 orienteers through the steep country and big boulders of Beechworth Gorge. Carpark off Camp Street, Beechworth. The event was part of a combined Victoria / ACT Junior Training Camp and provided tough orienteering challenges with 5 line courses and a score event course. RESULTS: Kangaroo Crossing West near Eldorado - 5 July 2026
This Vic Series #6 event was AWOC's big one for the year and attracted 99 starters. Kangaroo Crossing West had never looked better, The creeks were flowing and Canberra based AWOCer, Michael Burt, set 6 challenging courses through the boulder and prickly pear strewn hillsides. Rob Simmons co-ordinated a team of AWOC helpers and the visitors thoroughly enjoyed their day in lovely winter sunshine. Results and Split times can be found at eventor.

FLYFAIRE WINERY – AWOC v Waggaroos
Sunday 31 May.
Starts from 10am – 11am at Flyfaire Winery
Directions: Drive to Woomargama off the Freeway 50k north of Albury. Take the Tunnel Road just north of the pub and be careful on the windy, hilly, and sometimes narrow road for 11k which brings you to a saddle. Proceed straight ahead for 600m to the winery entrance or turnoff right (1km) to take in the view from the Wambariga Lookout. Follow signs to parking and assembly. Toilets on site, or nearby at Wambariga lookout on the way in.
Courses:
Long Hard - 6.5km
Medium Hard - 4.9km
Short Hard - 2.5km
Moderate - 3.3km
Easy - 2.1km
Map and Terrain: New 1:10,000 scale map fairly open in the middle with point features of vegetation, rocks, and man made stuff. East and west areas are fairly bland open forest. Some fences to cross.

AWOC Members – $8 adults, $3 juniors (20 and under), $16 maximum per family

NSW state league #5 and ACT Long distance champs
A great weekend of orienteering 16 and 17 May at split rock near cootamundra. Great weather, superb granite terrain and great courses.
Our mates from WaggaRoos had updated the gardeners lookout map and set the courses for day one.
A group of 8 (+2kids) AWOCers attended with good results.
Our overachiever Tim rode his mountain bike the whole way to coota in 2 days covering over 200 km on the first day. He rode to and from the event and won M40A both days orienteering. (Taking inspiration from our adventurer Leigh and memories of Max!)

Sunday 10th May. Starting 10am.
Directions to Start: From Albury drive north on the old Hume Highway and turn left towards Gerogery. Drive approximately 5km and turn right into the parking area at the top of the hill.
Terrain: Open hilly forest with granite boulders.
Training: IDEAL FOR BEGINNERS. Experienced orienteers will lead a 60 minute map walk giving instruction on interpretation of orienteering symbols and navigation using contours.
Entry: No fee for 'training events'. You can come along and enter on the day but ....

Next Event: Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 May:
Split Rock
WaggaRoos and OACT will be hosting a two-day State League orienteering event on the Split
Rock map near Bethungra. WaggaRoos are organising the middle-distance race on Saturday 16 May 2026.
OACT are organising the ACT Long Distance Championships on Sunday 17 May.
This is a great opportunity to participate in a couple of major events on the ONSW calendar and you are encouraged to enter by Eventor.
ENTRY DEADLINE IS NEXT SUNDAY 10 MAY. To enter via Eventor:

2. On the event calendar go to Sat 16/5 and select 2026 NSW State League #5 and ACT League #4 -

Choose your course from the drop-down box.
Tick the box acknowledging you are accepting the terms of the Landowner Visitor Induction form.
Select, as required, to enter other people in your family.
Select Next and follow the prompts re payment and confirmation.
Everyone (Competitors and Volunteers) needs to accept the terms of the Landowner Visitor Induction form.
This can be found by
• Opening Eventor (no need to log in);
• On the event calendar go to Sat 16/5 and select 2026 NSW State League #5 and ACT League #4 -

• Selecting Landowner Visitor Induction form in the Documents and Links box.
Accepting the terms of the Landowner Visitor Induction form can be done in Eventor by ticking the box as you
formally enter your course. If you have volunteered to help and do not want to participate on a course, at point
4 above you need to select Vol-Sup as your class (at the bottom of the drop-down box) as though you were
formally entering a course.
If you cannot log on to Eventor you will need to print the form, sign it and bring it to the Registration tent.
Entry to Sunday’s event must also be done through Eventor, separate to entering Saturday’s event. Closing
date for Pre-entry to Sunday’s event is also Sunday May 10.
Entry fees: Saturday: Senior $30, Junior $20, SubJunior $15, Family max $80
Sunday: Senior $42, Junior $32, Family max $116
To get there:
From Wagga: Follow the A41 Olympic highway through Junee and Bethungra. Approx 10km after passing
through Bethungra turm right into Lismore Road and follow the O-signs 2km east on sealed road to a cattle
grid, then continue to follow signage to the designated Parking area and park as directed. Parking is 500-800
from the arena. In particularly wet weather, Parking will be an additional 500m further away..
From Cootamundra: travel south for 11.5km on A41 Olympic Highway before turning left at Lismore Road.
Follow the O-signs as above.
