Fight night 3 video is up on our YouTube channel! Had a great time with the crew from grappling club. Just a bunch of locals getting together for a fun night of rolls and pizza.
Stay tuned for some awesome events coming up to close out the year.

Another clean mat for the day! 🧼
A lot people wonder why I still mop the mats, as opposed to most other clubs where the members do it.
For me it's all about showing respect.

I respect you taking time away from your life and family. 🀎

I respect you doing the work that I ask of you. 🀎

I respect you putting your sweat onto the mats. 🀎

So it's a small way for me to say thank you and show respect back by cleaning it up.

Had a great night of BJJ last night at our fight night 4.
Had the crew from Denmark Grappling Club come in and we ran a white belt round robin comp to decide the ultimate white belt ! πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€
Then did a couple of tag team matches to ensure everyone got some rolls in with plenty of action and laughs along the way.
Finished the night with a few pizzas and sneaky ales to celebrate. πŸ»πŸ•πŸ₯°
Super proud of everyone who jumped in and looking forward to the next fight night in a few more weeks. This will be an MMA night with some big city crew coming down.
Watch this space! ! !

Positional sparring rounds on the wall introducing progressive technical problems to build up layers of skill tonight. πŸ₯°
Objective- keep your partner on the wall and beat them up.
Progression of person on the wall.
1. Just defend strikes. No trying to get off the wall.
2. Introduce clinch for defence.
3. Can strike back.
4. Can try to get off the wall.
5. Both partners have all tools and same objective.
😁
Run it, solve problems as you go. πŸ‘
This is a much more effective model than trying to memorise long technical sequences that you might not even use.

Fun with the team last night. πŸ₯°
Got a few people getting ready for belts at the moment so there is a bit of extra encouragement coming off the wall for the crew looking to level up. 😁
Nothing more satisfying than seeing your mates do well. πŸ€πŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ€ŽπŸ–€

Transferring your back control from arms controlling to legs controlling.
This frees up your arms to start submitting. πŸ₯°
This is a problem everyone needs to solve and it can be solved in many different ways.
You only really need one or two good solutions and you are good to go. πŸ‘Œ
Simple fundamental drills like this build genuinely good grapplers that all look a different from each other as everyone's bodies work differently.

Working seated guard tonight. Specifically looking to improve the engagement phase through thoughtful grip fighting and a simple plan to attach to your partners leg.πŸ₯°
Top person looking to connect both hands on partner with body lock, double collar ties or 2 on one leg control.
Bottom person looking to connect to the leg of their partner and IMMEDIATELY offbalance. We worked shin on shin position for all the people who didn't have a plan from there already. 😁
Great job by the team in an often difficult position to feel comfortable in.

Our kids BJJ program kicks off start of term 3 Monday 20th July. πŸ₯°
Kids from 8+ can come in and try out a session for free before making any decisions. πŸ™‚
We don’t just teach how to wrestle, we help build resilience and confidence in a kind supportive environment.
Come and see why joining the team at SBG isn’t just about doing the thing. 😁
Unless you come in and try, you will never know if it’s something for you or your kids.
Make the call today. We are here to help.

One of the things we are very good at is working at an individual level to find what works best for you. πŸ˜‰
No cookie cutter combos, no play by play instructions, no everyone has to do it the same. 😴😴😴😴 So boring.....
Working with young Finn on a wall heavy grindy style that plays into the fact he is pretty strong, but not very fast.
This makes the best use of his attributes and allows him to find success with what he does have, rather than force a style that isn't going to work for him. πŸ€“ SMRT
So if you have tried the traditional model and it didn't float your boat then come in and try something more contemporary and tailored for you.
