The City of Albany have employed a private contractor to remove the last of the lantana and other bushes that our intrepid and persistent members started attacking. The area will be replanted with native species. Thanks to Mike P, John C, Paul L and Di who rolled up their sleeves at the last busy bee a couple of weeks ago. They did a sterling job and removed a lot of the dead plants along the southern fence line. We are slowly making a big difference to the aesthetics of Lawley Park.

The very start of pickleball in Albany and Lawley. All thanks to Geoff Whitaker who at a tennis committee meeting asked if he could try pickleball with some of his friends. He was going to drop the net and play with tennis racquets.
The committee asked “what is pickleball?” Did the research and within the week had decided to convert tennis courts 1 and 2 to pickleball courts. By August we had painted the lines, purchased nets, paddles and balls. We were away.
Stay tuned to discover more about Pickelball at Lawley - coming very soon.

The Tinder’s competed gallantly but were pipped at the post by a team of experienced ladies playing with their 19year old first timer lads. The Hot Kitchen Hands won a jar of pickles each for coming last in their division. All the team members won at least a game each which was an awesome effort. They did get the joint best dressed team with the Pickled Pirates who ironically they played for 11/12th spot in their division. Great time had by all.
