About the Club
Western Magic District Basketball Club is the youngest club playing within the Basketball SA district competition. It was formed in 2005 by a group of individuals who felt the need for a club that was focussed on player development in an enjoyable, family friendly atmosphere. Starting out with only 6 teams we have enjoyed steady growth from that day onwards, now routinely entering up to 30 teams in the competition in all junior age groups as well as youth and senior competitions. We acknowledge that juniors in particular have other interests and are involved in a range of sports and that they should be afforded the opportunity to play at the most appropriate level of competition, best suited to their stage of development. Having pathways for players to all levels of the district competition and beyond we now proudly see players that have come through our ranks being considered for selection in state teams and playing at the highest levels in local competitions. Being a young club we are not hindered by history or politics so have the ability to stay “ahead of the pack”. As Western Magic has evolved we have seen our approach to player development reap rewards with success at state championships and countless season premierships. Regular success is also enjoyed in local and interstate carnivals, events that are attended regularly. We are based at the St Clair Recreation Centre on Woodville Road. Strategic partnering with like-minded local clubs, businesses and other organisations is aimed at making access to the district basketball competition affordable and fun. With the club being run by enthusiastic volunteers we are able to keep our fees down to a level that is only a fraction of many of the more established clubs.The Western Magic District Basketball Club has a focus of being .....successful.....affordable.....family friendly.....and developing players is what we do best.
