30 YEARS OF UNDERWATER SPORTS DIVING CENTRE 🎉🌊

On this day 30 years ago, 13 August 1996, Dave took over ownership of Underwater Sports Diving Centre.

Back then, Underwater Sports was a small, part-time scuba diving shop on Grand Junction Road in Hope Valley. It was a humble beginning to what would become an incredible 30-year journey.

Not long after, Dave moved the business to a slightly bigger shop just 2km down the road at Forum Village in Holden Hill.

In 2000, our purpose-built dive charter boat Alladin was built, opening up a whole new chapter of diving adventures around South Australia. Then, in 2002, the exHMAS Hobart was scuttled, giving us one of Australia’s great wreck dives right here in our own backyard.

Over the years, Underwater Sports continued to grow into the family business it is today. Eventually, we moved once again into our current, much larger premises — still just around the corner and less than 2km from where our story began all those years ago.

While our shop has grown, diving has taken us much further afield. Travel has always been a huge part of the Underwater Sports story, taking us on diving adventures throughout Australia and around the world. Along the way, we’ve developed wonderful business relationships, lifelong friendships and countless memories both above and below the water.

But the most important part of the last 30 years has always been the people.

To our customers, VIP Members, students, instructors, Divemasters, dive crew, suppliers, industry friends, family and everyone who has shared a dive, a trip, a course, a laugh or an adventure with us over the years — thank you.

Scuba diving plus snorkelling and spearfishing equipment Underwater Sports provides PADI dive courses, scuba equipment sales and servicing, snorkelling and spearfishing sales, and diving tours. With 29 years of experience.

After our Bali Group trip, we headed over to Gili Air to check it out as a potential group travel option, and it exceeded our expectations. We had 3 days of diving with Manta Dive, with fantastic guides, a comfortable boat, lots of critters, turtles and even some reef sharks. The water was warm, excellent visibility, and the vibe on the island was chilled and welcoming. We loved it. Check out our highlights 🤿
